Mentalizing is a wonderful therapeutic addition to my practice
The book was received within a short time, in perfect condition. It answers my needs in my practice -- I wanted to add a little something more to my therapy practice in which I use various therapies including CBT, geshtault, NLP, Redecision therapy, Transactional Analysis, and have integrated them into the theory and therapy that I have developed, KEG cards (Keys to Emotional Growth) and the book Mentalizing fits right into my integrative approach. I especially enjoy the varied connections between mentalizing process and many different types of therapy.

Excellent Book for professioanls in the mental health field
I find this book so inspiring and wonderful to read as a counselor working with children and families. It helps to understand the foundation of one's anchor in therapy and counseling concepts when working with the population of chemical dependency. I highly recommend it for anyone in a behavioral and mental health clinical setting.Melinda Emery ATR-BC, LMFT, CATC IV

It make the MBT clearer in mental health practice.
MBT is initially organized and developed for treatment of borderline personality disorder. However, it is helpful for most mentally unhealthy people who have difficulty in mentalizing process when attachment system is hyperactivated. I think this handbook is very helpful and informative in my clinical practice.

Comprehensive and exciting
This is a really thorough run through of an exciting new area in therapeutic treatments. In order to cover so much, and perhaps as a result of so much collaboration, the writing style is a little dry. If it weren't for that I would have given it five stars.

An excellent introduction for anyone interested in Mentalization
A very good introduction to this topic, bought for a friend but found it was also an easy read for anyone interested in approaches to clinical therapeutic interventions.

review
A must for anyone who wishes to progress in the field of personality disorder. Recommend you read the previous book first.

no longer selling MBT short
The grand, and as the editors put it, now daunting sweep of mentalizing as a concept is given a well-merited depth of coverage by this timely and magisterial tome. The latest neurobiological and developmental psycholgy underpinnings of mentalizing as a psychological process are well documented. Of equal importance to clinicians is the breadth of contributions from beyond the pens of professors bateman and fonagy, by a multi national assemblage of experts in the application of pro-mentalizing therapeutic techniques across the gamut of psychological disorders. Mentalizing is steadily moving beyond its historic hinterland in borderline personality disorder to energise clinical practice in forensic psychiatry, eating disorders, addictions and child and adolescent work. I strongly recommend this both as an introduction to those new to mentalizing, and as a stimulating addition to the reference works for anyone who has been keeping pace with this revolution for a while.
