AccuSharp

This is INCREDIBLE! I followed the instructions on the video that is on the product page, exactly. And I think I swiped the sharpener at most 10 times. My knife went from having to saw meat, veggies, fruit- whatever I tried to cut to incredibly sharp, like it was brand new. Easily cuts everything again! It’s a GREAT VALUE, super simple, doesn’t take up much space (great for small kitchens) it can easily be stored in a small drawer. No electricity, no sticking to the counter, nothing complicated and extremely effective. It’s my new favorite kitchen tool!!!

Performance & Ease of Use This is easily the best budget and beginner-friendly knife sharpener on the market. It gets the job done in seconds, allowing you to take a completely dull blade and get right back to using it with incredible precision. The performance genuinely blew me away, especially since I started with very low expectations. Safety & Ergonomics The ergonomic handle design works perfectly, but you do need to pay attention to your form. Always make sure your hands are fully protected and covered by the plastic guard handle when sweeping down the blade to sharpen it. The sharper your knife gets during the process, the easier it is to accidentally cut yourself if you aren't paying attention to your hand placement. As long as you have stability in your hand, it won't slip off. The size will fit most hands, so you don't have to worry if you have small or big hands. Value vs. Premium Feel While it doesn't replace high-end professional equipment, it lets you get immediate utility out of basic kitchen tools without a complicated setup. It is a straightforward, highly effective tool that offers massive value for the price. I have not used it with those serrated knifes so I am not sure about the compatibility of this knife with specialty knives. Long term durability is also hard to gauge since it's made of plastic, and the outer side does have scratch marks from my usage. I will update this review in the future if things change.

I was frustrated with knives that were really dull so I ordered one of these as a solution. There is controversy on these knife sharpener, some saying you have to use a whet stone but I tell you these made my knives sharp as can be. I've tried sharing steels and oil stones and whet stones and this is the fastest and easiest way to sharpen all of your knives. AccuSharp sharpener has not torn up my knives, has not damaged my knives. Using a whet stone requires a lot of skill and this takes all of that out of the equation and it does it all, even my serrated bread knife. There is actually two ways to use this. The manual gives a fine illustration of drawing the sharpener over the knife edge. Another way is to place it inverted on a firm flat surface and drawing the knife across the sharpener and away from your hand from beginning edge near the handle to the tip. Either way works fine, but I find inverting it requires less effort and more control for smaller knives plus otherwise you will have to bring it to the edge of a countertop. You'll find that it feels rough at first but will get smoother as you continue to sharpen. You will see the metal it removes, which is normal. Be certain to thoroughly wash you knives before use, as well as the flat surface used to stabilize. I always use a cutting board. It will remove small dings and notches with a few more passes. You can start with more pressure then lighten it up to get that very sharp edge. Don't be afraid to go 10 passes if you need to, but I find 3-5 passes is all I needed the first time, then 2-3 passes for maintenance after many uses. It will literally get sharp enough to cut through a soft tomato. After sharpening don't run your thumb down the blade. You will get cut. 100% recommend.

I have ordered this brand of sharpener before but this one is a bit less sturdy. Still sharpens knives well.

This is THE best hand held sharpener by far and I have had several... my knives sharpened like new! I don't even need to press hard; just a soft glide a few times and they are sharp! If you have Japanese steel knives, the 15 degree sharpener works very well. I used an ordinary sharpener with them and thought I ruined them, but this sharpener brought them back to perfect! I never knew there was a difference in the degrees of sharpeners. For the price, I bought one of each and don't regret it for a second!

Wow, this is a great little kitchen knife sharpener! (and i've tried just about everything including wet stones!) I first purchased the original white AccuSharp as it was advertised as a sharpener for "chef’s knives, paring knives, serrated knives, filet knives, cleavers – you name it", keeping mind I have a lot of different knives in my cooking arsenal, so it sounded very versatile. After one attempt to sharpen my basic Chef's knife I found it had no edge at all. I was so disappointed (and my good old Ultimate Edge sharpener was pretty shot). Then I remembered seeing the 15 degree Gourmet model was an option when I was looking at the AccuSharp models, so Lucky for me Amazon was kind enough to let me do an even exchange! and Wow I can't thank you enough! It has been perfect for all my cooking knives (Chef's, Santoku, boning, paring, steak...), it's just a simple, quick, effective sharpener. The original model may work for Machetes, cleavers, and larger blades, but if you want to sharpen your cooking knives get this one! Thank You Amazon for the wonderful customer service, as always!!!

Maybe this isn't the best tool out there, especially for very fine and costly knives, but I don't have anything in that category. It works so well - all of my so-so knives were as dull as a butter knife, and this little tool got them all quite sharp in a short time with minimum effort. Just a few swipes of each knife and they were all sharper than new. Its size lets you store it in small, convenient locations, and the safety strap works well to prevent injury. You should really wipe and rinse the knives after sharpening and carefully clean the counter and floor in the area where the tool is used as it does produce metal dust, which can hurt if it gets rubbed into your skin.

Amazingly easy to use. Puts a nice edge on the blade. Well made. Light weight with finger guard. I've owned several sharpeners, this is the best one. Can't beat the price. Highly recommend.

I was very surprised how good this was. Leaves all the knives that I have with a good clean and sharp edge. It seems a bit weird have the blade pointing upwards when working on it, but it does work. I have a Tormek style sharpener, Diamond and wet stones. But they all take time to set up and use and lots of practice to get right. When you just want a quick sharpen to put an edge back on quickly this certainly does the job. My knives are not of fantastic quality and I am not sure if you are a sharpening purist you would be happy with this.
