good bits and a good price

Bought a five pack of these, largely with the expectation of going through all of them in pretty short order. To my enduring surprise and satisfaction, that did not happen. Instead, drilling over 100 holes to the full length the bits would feasibly allow, using only one. It did not bend or break at any point, which was almost unbelieveable.That said, important considerations for their use would be a combination of care, the drill, and the state of the wood. Due to the depth I was drilling, I had to repeatedly withdraw the drill to clear saw dust which can break the bit if there is enough to clog it up. Dry wood is easier to drill through than wet wood, and dense wood or knots in wood will either break your bit or force you to go very slowly. Also, if the drill isn't powerful enough and can't maintain a high revolution rate, it can cause the bit to snag on tougher fibers and break, where it would have otherwise ripped through them without issue.

Realistic expectations... you like me have probably just brought these, and are reading the reviews from people saying their terrible, bad quality etc. Well, what do you expect at this price point? They were actually quite solid for bits this cheap, and though won't last as long as quality bits, at 3mm Diameter, a sneeze will break them. Its mostly user error when they break, you really need a pillar drill to stand any kind of chance of drilling multiple holes with these. That said, be prepared to extract a few broken off bits, because they will break off inside the hole. I would reorder from this company again as they make nice 'disposible' bits.

Good quality bits, I recommend.

To be used for drilling pilot holes in 100mm thick timber, which cannot be done using normal length bits.

You get what you pay for

These extra long drills are not easily found in the shops. I was able to make an awkward screwed connection through thick timber. Very pleased.
