VS-82 is an ultra-compact, lightweight and convenient table tripod
Not too long ago, we were looking into products that could help us further out content here at MacSources. One of the items we came up with was a short, table top tripod. Part of the reason for this was so that our teleprompter (R810-10) could sit closer to us when we do video review. We started doing our research and found that the Vanguard VS-82 was exactly what we were looking for. For starters, the VS-82 can hold up to 5.5 lbs and the teleprompter โ our main reason for this search โ only weighs 5 pounds. Secondly, the tripod swivels 360ยบ and has a 2-way pan head. The versatility of a professional-grade full-size tripod packaged in a smaller, lightweight product was what we were looking for and we found it in the Vanguard VS-82. First Impressions Upon its arrival, we were instantly surprised at its weight. Even though we knew before ordering it that it weighs just under 1 pound, it was still a bit shocking considering how well it is made. It is made primarily from aluminum and comes equipped with a standard tripod mount. This will work with most modern cameras and can be replaced if lost. Because itโs a table top tripod, it only measures 9 7/8โ high when itโs fully extended. The nice thing about it is that when its legs are fully extended, they have a nice, wide stance and includes non-slip feet. Itโs very secure and doesnโt wobble at all if itโs on a flat surface. Utility When we moved on to the testing of the tripod, we used several types of cameras and tripod-mountable devices. We used everything from a full size Canon DSLR to our iPad Teleprompter to an iPhone 6 (mountable with a tripod adapter) and found that the Vanguard VS-82 was a very useful, sturdy tripod. The most impressive thing to me was the teleprompter. Even though itโs lightweight in its own rite, itโs still an awkward shape and a bit front heavy. I thought for sure that the tripod would succumb to the teleprompterโs irregular measurements and tip forward. But, this little stand surprised me. It held strong and kept the teleprompter nice and steady. Conclusions The Vanguard VS-82 is definitely worth buying for any photographer or videographer who wants to up their game and add to their equipment arsenal. The tripod has an MSRP of $29.99 and is completely worth the price. "This product was received at a free or discounted price in exchange for my review. A very Stable and Well Built Small Tripod
This is an excellent tripod that weighs just under a pound and seems extremely stable when its legs are fully stretched out. It appears very well built and seems strong enough for most nonprofessional dSLR cameras. It is not as small as some portable tripods but seems sturdier. I bought it mainly for travel but found many other uses including for it. 1. Macro work using macro instrument. Itโs strong enough and stable enough for the camera support and camera. 2. Binoculars or telescope if it has the tripod connection 3. Flash stand 4. Camera or camcorder of course. There may be better small tripods out there but this one seems like a good functional tripod at a very reasonable price. What I like about it. 1. It has most of the functions you expect in a tripod. 2. itโs extremely stable 3. When stretched out fully the feet lay flat adding stability 4. Weighs under a pound. 5. Less than one foot long and less than 3 inches wide so it takes less space in your bag 6. Very strong. Pushing down on dSLR with zoom lens attached, it doesn't give at all. 7. Easy to setup and adjust 8. Very reasonably priced Here are a few disadvantages 1. A little bulky, does take up more space than similar tripods 2. Very limited height adjustment 3. No tripod bag included Considering all the advantages and disadvantages this looks like a very good small tripod that should be great for travel and holding any camera from a subcompact camera to medium weight dSLR with zoom lens where there no room for a large or heavy tripod.

Built Like A Hummer - Make Sure Height Suits Your Needs
Talk about the little Tripod that could. I've had great use of it for table top photography. It's rock solid and supports my favorite new Bridge camera the Panny FZ200 with ease and at any angle. I have a bunch of Tripods ranging from Amazon basics to some very heavy Tripods by ravelli and a few other brands most all of which have been Amazon purchases. I'll caveat this review by making it clear I'm not a pro, just an enthusiast of still photography and Video. Because I do a good deal of table top photography and my tripods are your standard 62-72 inch floor standing models, I can't get close enough to my subject on my work area which is just an infinity background, a bunch of 5/K lighting diffusers and bounce cards. And so the search for a compact, solid Tripod began. The reviews of the Vanguard won me over and here's what I like about it. * Extendable legs with a wide spread make for ideal balance. Like a linebacker or one of our bulldogs the tripod was well designed to disperse weight with a low center of gravity. * Excellent Build quality, nice textured rubber feet for added stability * Easy to adjust * Quality carrying case is always a nice touch What's not so great: * Tricky head isn't smooth, I didn't expect a fluid head but this ones a bit sub par * My fault for not double checking minimum height. But the tripod stands to high. If you need to be 1 cm away from your subject and you're on a level playing ground you'll be better off with a book or two to rest your camera on. * The fixed plate is a pain, no question about it. Not a deal breaker but even the cheap quality Pods have a universal quick release plate. * Pivot is restrictive and cumbersome if I need to switch to Portrait and flop my camera on it's side instead of an easy glide you have to fiddle and fuss with it and still the end result isn't ideal. However, despite it's draw backs, if it fits the bill and excels in performance where you need it most you'll be hard pressed to beat this Tripod at the price it's being offered. Highly Recommenced

Nice, Compact, and sturdy
This is what I have been needing for a while since I started hitting the gun range. My spotting scope has a full-sized tripod that just seems to get in the way of my feet. and having to move it into place to check down range was just a pain at times.so I started looking for something compact. came across this one and from the description it was more of what I was looking for with a max height of slightly less than ten inches I knew it would work out got it mounted the scope and it was a perfect fit. no more hassle moving it around to check my shots. It holds the scope securely and the plastic parts are of a decent quality material. As the legs are short and metal my scope is not heavy it's 2.4lb the tripod has a max supporting weight of 5.5 lbs. I don't know about that, but it is well-built, and it just may hold its claims. Overall, I feel it's a good tripod I don't toss my items around in a pile and hope they don't get damaged. Everything has a place whenever I'm done using it so this item will be put back into my range bag and stored in a safe location away from falls and accidental kicks. I believe this will last a good long while with regular use. "Happy Shopping Guys"

Vanguard makes quality tripods - the VS-82 is perfect for tabletop use, even for a heavy 500 mm lens (with care!)
I have been shooting the St. Louis Cardinal baseball games with a 150-500 mm Sigma lens (4.5 pounds) and needed something to set on the table (all inclusive dining area) to stabilize my shots and upon which to rest such a heavy lens. The Vanguard VS-82 fits the bill PERFECTLY. Quality construction. Easy to use. Fully adjustable. I couldn't ask for a better tripod to safely and securely hold such an expensive, heavy lens. The Vanguard VS-82 is rated to hold up to 5.5 pounds (lens + camera), I'm likely at capacity or slightly exceeding yet it remains secure. Definitely recommend! I would indeed buy this tripod again. From the package: * Compact and Lightweight * Table Tripod with 2-way pan head * Rubber feet * Extended Height 250 mm, 9 7/8 inches * Folded Height 230 mm, 9 inches * 2 sections * Weight 390 g, 13.76 oz * Max. Loading Weight: 2.5 kg, 5.5 lbs * 2-year warranty There is some great additional information on VanguardWorld

Sturdy. Versatile. Better value than most out there. Ideal for any shootin bench
Purchased this and the Vitroxx and did a side by side comparison. I have a fairly larger (not huge) Meade Wilderness spotting scope. It will rotate and also has a 65mm objective. I compared the Vanguard VS-82 to the Vitrox VX-T60. The Viltrox has longer legs that you pull out so it has a more range. I did not like the locks and the "snap in/out" locks. Too flimsy. The camera/scope mount is the typical 1/4-20 but tit does NOT have the additional post that keeps the scope from rotating. Used it today at the range. Perfect. No issues. Highly recommend this It was very steady and versatile. NOW, it is not a steel or aluminum precision machined mount....but those cost several hundred dollars. The Vanguard was easy and quick to set up and the wide stance of the legs is wonderful. Highly recommend if you are starting to get more proficient in shooting. NOW, I DO use a pair of 10-42's for the 15 yard ranges

Not good for a heavy spotting scope, feels flimsy. Compared to Bestshoot Desktop Mini Tripod
I was looking for a bench top and prone tripod for my 4 pound 11 ounce Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 20-60x80mm spotting scope without breaking the bank. Many recommend the Vanguard VS-82, but I was concerned it wouldnโt go low enough for my needs. I ordered both the VS-82 and a Bestshoot Desktop Mini Tripod to compare, the VS-82 is going back. I am not affiliated with either company, this is not a paid review. I ordered both of these and paid full price from Amazon on 7/17/2019. The VS-82 feels like a kids toy. The plastic center frame flexes under my scope, flimsy is how Iโd describe it. With the legs collapsed they cover a 12โ circle, with the legs extended a 15โ circle. The height with the center post maxed out and the legs extended is 10.25โ, with the legs collapsed and the center post down the height is 7.4โ. The two axis head is more appropriate for tripod use, but itโs plastic and doesnโt inspire confidence. Like other reviews noted, the rubber feet are misaligned some they donโt sit flat on the table. I would rate this as a 2-3 star product. The Bestshoot tripod is all metal construction, making it very stable under my 4 pound 11 ounce scope. The legs have metal tabs that engage against metal lugs for height adjustment. At the lowest setting the legs cover an 18โ circle, as the middle position 16โ circle, at the highest position 9โ circle. There are three fixed height settings; 9.4โ, 6.75โ, and 3.9โ. I wouldnโt trust it at the highest setting with my spotting scope, but it would be fine with my DSLR. The ball head is less than ideal for spotting scope use, but it actually feels pretty solid. It holds my scope steady without having to crank it down, my only potential concern with this tripod is the durability of the ball head over time if it loosens up. The articulating rubber feet work well, and there are three spares in the box. This tripod also shipped in a decent fabric bag, but Iโm never going to use it. I would rate this 4.5 stars if I could only because of my concern for ball head durability, but compared to the competition it gets a 5. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L6W1ZYK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works great, awesome little tripod
Received this tripod and attached it to my spotting scope. The tripod works really well. I like how compact and lightweight it is. The scope and the tripod will be used at the shooting range and it will be the ideal height on the shooting bench. Adjustments in height, and the swivel feature seem easy to use, durable. Several other reviews call out the tripod sitting uneven on the table due to twisted feet, I did not have that experience. Overall I would recommend this tripod, especially for the price.

Trรจs bien !
Pas trรจs haute mais suffisamment stable pour supporter une longue vue dans le cadre d'un stand de tir, par exemple ...

great value
I wanted this to hold my LabRadar chronograph and their branded one was very expensive and priced in $US. This one works perfectly and is very sturdy. It holds the chronograph unit perfectly and it has no tendency to tip. The legs do extend slightly (if you need that) but I was impressed with its stability and quality. It was an excellent choice.
