Ida B: . . . and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster, and (Possibly) Save the World

The book was ok.I did not really enjoy it. The author needed to make the boom funny and enjoyable. I would not recommend it.

I loved this book. I read "Ida B" because a young reader friend of mine was enjoying it and I thought it would be fun to read a book at the same time she was. It was a cute book - geared toward a younger audience, but with a good message for all of us. It is important for us to take care of our earth and in turn it will take care of us. Ida B is a young girl trying to make her way in the world while her mother is fighting cancer and her father is trying to keep his farm and apple orchards financially strong. A sacrifice of some of his beloved trees and a piece of land - sold to developers - helps him pay his wife's medical bills, but creates a rift between him and his daughter. Ida B finds it hard to forgive her father for that sacrifice, but soon learns forgiveness is just as important for her as it is for him.

Asked my older granddaughter for a book idea for the younger granddaughter. She said "Ida B" right away. She had read it many times as a 4 grader and her favorite book. Hope it's this granddaughter's fave alwo

I personally liked how this book is so true in so many ways. It felt like she was living my story in different t way. But it felt like the author didn’t check over every part of the book. There were a few grammar mistakes. I would totally recommend this book to anyone who is having a hard time with what’s going on. This book will truest lift up your spirits and might make you cry a little. It sure made me. Especially when a book relates to your like.

I thought this story had many layers. I can understand a few peoples' reviews about the character being selfish, and not completety apologizing in the end. But, I think she does in her own way. This is a story written in the perspctive of a 9 year old girl. She has a lot she has to adjust to, and coming to grips with some major changes in her life. These things are a lot for a girl her age to process, and I think this story tells it in an age appropriate way. There are several lessons that are tought in this story. I think it is a fabulous book.

I liked this book because it kind of teaches you a life lesson. Ida B. seems so real to me because she does things that kids her age would do. I think Mrs. Washington is a great teacher and I like how every day she asks Ida B. if she wants to talk about anything because it helps Ida B. overcome her fears of apologizing and she helps her when Ida B. is going through a bunch of problems.

I think this book was pretty good. It wasn't so interesting in the front but it's good in the middle. I would recommend this book to maybe like a 3rd or a 4th grader. Overall I think this was a good book.

Ida B. is the story of what happens when the magic of childhood gets tainted by the harshness of life. Ida B. is an only child living with her parents on their farm. Her life is idyllic and her friends are her dog, cat, the apple trees, a babbling brook and a wise old tree. Ida B. loves everything about her life and never wants a thing about it to change. But one day her mama gets sick and Ida B. struggles, dealing with changes she doesn’t know how to prepare for and the anger she feels as bits of her happiness are slipping away.I enjoyed Ida B.’s story very much. Sure, she’s a precocious child but what child asks to be precocious? She just is and that’s not her fault. But she also has to find a way to find her place in a world with other people and learn that sometimes bad things happen even when you don’t deserve them. And that our words and actions, despite the reasons behind them, have consequences. Sounds like Life 101 to me and still just as hard a lesson as any your ever gonna learn.

I loved this book. I laughed, I cried, it moved me. It's a beautiful and thought provoking story. It's also quick and easy read for an adult. My 11 year old daughter also really enjoyed it, however she says she found it a bit sad. I first found it at the library and loved it so much I had to buy it and have my own copy. Would recommend for ages 10 and up.

I loved this book the first time I read it, some six years ago. Since then I've given it to many friends - to pass on the delight of it. One young reader told me it was the first chapter book she ever read cover to cover - and she's re-read it twice since then. It appeals to readers of all ages and has terrific "staying power".

I am in the middle of reading this to my Grade 2 students, and I realized that I am missing pages 155-202! My kids are so disappointed as they were really enjoying the book. Very frustrating!
