It’s a hard situation to be in but this book was super helpful in explaining the situation to my kids. I have gifted it to some other moms in my area going through the same thing.

Bought this book for my daughter. She read it to her 3 and 5 year old kids before she started treatment. She thought it was great but said she was pretty sure all the kids got out of it was that she is sick and would lose her hair. But that is because of their ages.

Well written and age appropriate to my 6 year old but the mom in the book gets treatment and gets better she isn't terminal so I had to have a talk about how some times mommies do not get better and life does not go back to normal and that's ok.So as a mother with metastatic breast cancer I thought it was ok but not a perfect fit for our situation.

Very helpful!
My son is 6. I'm dealing with my 5th re-occurrence, and going through my 3rd chemo. He is now old enough to ask questions. When I first bought it, he wasn't real interested. At the advise of a friend, I stood it up on his dresser and waited. A few days later he brought it to me and asked me to read it. It helps to open the door to discuss the situation and how it makes the child feel. I recommend it!

I LOVED THIS BOOK AND SO DID MY 2 DAUGHTERS ALTHOUGH ITS SIMPLE IT HONESTLY HELPED THEM UNDERSTAND, ALTHOUGH I EXPLAINED AS WE WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS WHEN I READ THIS TO THE MY OLDEST THANKED ME FOR READING THE BOOK AND ASKED WHY I DIDNT GET IT SOONER, SHE SAID IT MADE HER FEEL BETTER ABOUT IT THAT SHE WASN'T THE ONLY LITTLE GIRL WHO HAD A MOMMY GOING THROUGH THIS AND KNOW SHE UNDERSTOOD A LITTLE BETTER.

Get this if you know someone with cancer who has small children
My sister currently has breast cancer and this book was used to explain her sickness to her seven year old daughter. I got it as a gift for her and was told that it was a huge help.

Not for single parent or same sex parent families.
I had to donate this book to a local agency and could not use it as it discussed "dad" helping mom out. Sadly my son's father left when he was only one and would not be seeing his dad helping mom out. So in a nutshell this book is not for diverse families, it would not work for single parent families or same sex marriages/partnerships. I wish there was a way to know that before ordering the book.
