Amazing Duffel Bags
I have 8 of the EC120L's and have used them for treks all over the world and for 3 trans-global moves. They all look the same as the day I bought them, and when not in use they collapse into a single 40L duffel with no issues at all.BUT THEY HAVE NO WHEELS!!!!Thank goodness they didn't add any extra weight or take up any extra space with nonsense like that.Loaded to 70lbs to meet flight guidelines or more if you aren't flying, the straps are still very comfortable and you can slap one on your back, one on your chest and toss the third on top of the back bag. The numerous handles and great craftsmanship mean you can easily grab, toss and haul gear around efficiently and wander the eorld to your heart's content. Best of all you aren't stuck trying to drag wheels over curbs and whatnot. This is a duffel bag for moving lots of things, and it does an incredible job of it.MTB gear, scuba gear, camping gear, and clothes for a couple months will all go into one with no problems. It is not, however, a cute little designer bag to delicately dangle from a finger while waiting for someone to come collect it for you. You'll definitely want wheels for that.

Excellent Backpack Duffel
Great duffel type bag. The material is a bit like rubberized nylon. Seems durable and probably very water resistant if not water proof (rain wise) for most people. The back pack feature is excellent. First time I have ever had this option where it fitted me perfectly. Most of the time the backpack straps are obviously just thrown in and don’t quite fit right. This one fits me perfectly and I didn’t need a sternum strap. The main compartment was more than adequate for my needs. It is very carry on friendly in size and shape. My normal carry on is a No Matter What Duffel (Small) from Eagle Creek. This bag is a bit larger volume wise and not much larger in physical size. The only complaint I would have is the end pockets do not accept a lock like the main compartment. I was going to use this as an emergency bag since it is packable. But it turns out it wasn’t large enough for a recent trip to Japan (too many gifts for relatives). Returned it with a lot of reluctance. I may order it again for another trip. I love the material (rubberized Bi-Tech) and the size/weight when stored.

Impressive Design + Quality components
Got this bag for a trip to Ireland where we'd be staying in a different hotel each night and sharing a small car with 3 others. Lots of packing, unpacking, carrying in and out of small inns, and stuffing into the trunk of a small car. Zipper quality is great. Compression straps in just the right places. Top and bottom pockets ample to hold 2 pairs of shoes each. Filled main compartment with packing cubes. Total loaded bag weight was 35 lbs, and felt very dense. Zip-away shoulder straps useful for stowing as checked airline baggage, then used the shoulder straps as primary carry mode in and about the small towns. Kudos to the designer...

Great Quality Bag for Carry-on
This is my first Eagle Creek duffel bag; my existing luggage is either American Tourister or L.L. Bean which I've been very happy with. Sadly for me none of my luggage fit the carry-on restrictions imposed by Delta. Hating the idea of paying to check a bag (I typically fly Southwest), I decided to buy a new carry-on bag. I was between this one and the Osprey Porter Travel Backpack Bag, 46-Liter. Ultimitally, the decision came down to price and the way the bags were divided internally. I'm very pleased with this bag. It traveled very well and held everything I needed for an eight day trip. I'm so happy with it that I've begun using it for shorter weekend getaways too. Below is a review of things I considered in my decision, along with pros and cons.Carry-on SizeI flew on an Embraer 175 (Delta flight operated by Skywest) and it fit easily in the overhead. Not exceeding the carry-on size was the single most important factor for me; since this replaced luggage I was happy with, a checked bag fee would have defeated the point of buying this bag. Based on reading reviews, many people rave about how bags like the eBag Mother Load and Osprey "expand" beyond their stated size. While nice in theory, in practice that's a huge negative IMO. I saw several people on my flight jamming both of those bags into the overhead bins because they "expanded" beyond the allowed carry-on size. All I could think watching those people was that I hoped they didn't have anything breakable in their bags. Bottom line, if you're going to use the expanding option, do it on the return flight and check the bag.My solution to the "expanding" for more space issue was to pack my clothes in packing cubs and bring a large travel compression bag for laundry/all clothes on the return flight. I have able to get a ton of extra items in the bag and it still fit into the overhead bin easily.Wheeled v. BackpackThis was a big issue for me. Several years ago I swore I'd never buy another non-wheeled bag again. I'd experiencing the joy of rolling my insanely heavy bag around an airport and the idea of doing that again was not appealing. Fast-forward and my opinion has changed because wheels: a) break, b) add extra weight, c) generally can't be hung on the back of a bathroom stall door (stalls can be tiny!), and d) make navigating stairs/escalators/public transportation/rough pavement/tight spaces a pain. I firmly believe in wheels on bags 25" or more because of weight. However for carry-o,n the lighter the bag the better in my opinion. At one point during my trip, I was on a light rail train and this bag fit fine on my lap, that would not have been easy to do with a rolling carry-on.Bag Structure/Added CompartmentsI *love* the minimalist construction of this bag! I have a few backpacks with special compartments for electronics, pens, etc. and I find them to be annoying. As I said, I used packing cubes which can be tailored to meet each tips specific needs. The more control I have over the weight of the bag, the easier my trip will be in the long run. The one downside: if you need to check this bag, you'd better not have anything delicate in it! If traveling Delta, I'd recommend a large folding tote in case you're forced to check your bag for anything you might be worried about.Shoulder StrapsThe straps on this bag were the only thing I really, really hated. They are difficult to adjust (I have four L.L. Bean backpacks that I've never once had a problem adjusting on the go) and the top plastic rings detach very easily. They really need to fix how the straps attach.Quality/Favorite DetailsIt's only been through one trip but it dealt with me packing a ton of stuff into very well. The top and side handles are great! I've read complaints about bags having limited handles and that becomes annoyingly obvious if you need to grab it fast or haul it around. The zippers for the main compartment opens to expose most of the interior space which is great. The zipper is also positioned so it's against your back (something that distinguishes it from other bags) which I really liked for the added security. If you want to lock it, you can add a lock to the main zipper. The top and bottom pockets also worked out great for my quart size liquids bag.ImprovementsAs I said, I HATE the top attachment points of the straps. I also think a great improvement would be to add either a shoulder strap or make the current straps convertible.OverallIt's a great bag in terms of utilizing a small amount of space. It's very lightweight, holds up well, and is very compact for storage. I own several Eagle Creek packing accessories and have always been pleased with their quality. I took it on a an eight day trip with temps ranging from 50 to 75 degrees. With careful packing, it'll work great for about a week of clothing/shoes/basic personal items.

Perfect Duffel
I bought this bag for a week long trip to Thailand.Pros:Plenty of space! It easily fit a weeks worth of clothing (for two climates), with plenty of room to spare. I was even able to pack my backpack and its contents into the duffel when I only wanted to carry one bag.Fits very nicely into overhead bins.Super lightweight and very attractive bag. I bought black and I like the shiny look to it. The end pockets make it very easy to access items during a flight when the bag is overhead.Cons:The backpack straps are great for carrying this bag longer distances, but started to slide when I wore them on one shoulder only. This wasn't an issue of the straps falling off, it just made them crooked.Overall, I loved using this bag on my recent trip and I plan to use it again and again.
