Paint Along with Jerry Yarnell Volume Six - Learning Composition

I have all the Yarnell books. Good Composition is easy to see, but hard to teach. It is like teaching a budding photographer the difference between snapshots and photographs. What is that something that makes one picture great, and another one stink? It could be color. It could be mistakes in technique, like overmixing oils till they are mud. But what holds the eye is going to depend largely on composition.

I like Jerry's books I have really come a long way with his books and watching youtube if I watch the tv then I read his books I have been at a good while I just got started a painting 8x10 canvas. I have a long way to go but reading Jerry's books and watching his tv shows, and another I like watching is clive5art shows he is very good also. But really get the books and wzt h hom on youtube both is really helpful and amazon is a very good place to get the books really good price.

Once again, I am not disappointed with Jerry or this book. I love all of my volumes of Jerry's books. They are superbly informative and teach you the very techniques needed to complete wonderful artworks. I highly recommend all of his books to anyone who wants to relax in the comfort of painting.

It has tips on dos and don’ts of composition. It talks about center of interest, eye stoppers, negative space, fillers, light source, overlapping, type L, triangle, center-type composition, and many other tips. It is a good source of information, strongly recommend.

I like his books but I really love his DVDs. I do not have the money for art school but couldn't really find a source that would tell you why one does things and how to do it, so you can paint what's in your head without it looking like a school drawing/painting. I'm best as an audio learner, so the DVDs are great, the books are good references also. Bob Ross will get you a picture but Jerry Yarnell actually tells you why you're doing it. Great Instructor!

My entire oil painting class loves the instructions for painting with Jerry Yarnell and we try to do the same picture at least once a year, and surprisingly each one of them is distinct in itself. He is a very good instructor, and recommend his books for everyone, from beginner to advanced artist.

This is another of Jerry Yarnell excellent instruction books on painting with acrylic paints. In this book he teaches you how to compose your picture for the best effect and interest of the viewer. This is another great book for someone just learning to paint.
