Best You Can Get for the Money for 2016 GTI
Highs: Power gain is real (not just torque, but horsepower is up an RPM climbs more rapidly), and I am inclined to believe the claim by K&N on this product 100%. Burning rubber is now easier and the car now sounds turbocharged, yet IS NOT obnoxiously loud in any way. Neighborhood creeping in 1st & 2nd gear is still silent enough to sneak up on elderly folks with too many dogs and not bother them. But at full bore you'll hear your blow off valve and some engine roar (which sounds different than the fake GTI engine sound).Lows: There is one small image in the instructions where you assemble the L bracket for the lower tube. It's a tiny, lousy pic, printed in B&W. Just remember that you want the long side of the L in the up position as it increases lower tube adjustment range. One reviewer noted the kit seemed too short. This may have been the issue. My kit fit flawlessly. The verdict: This is the best darn thing you can do for so little money and a super easy installation. This is K&N at its finest.Comparison vehicle: My other car is a fully built Evo IX which runs 380whp on pump gas and I didn't use a K&N cone until over 350whp (and doesn't even have a cold air wall like this one). The car: I am writing this review for my 2016 GTI Performance Pack (March 2016 build date) with manual trans & Michelin A/S3 tires (easier to spin than summers). 27k on the odometer at installation.Reviewer experience level: engine rebuilds, etc., but this kit will be a breeze for anyone. Your 13 year old could install this. I also considered the gorgeous APR intake, but it looked too nice for such an ugly engine bay and looked too quiet by my guess. The K&N looks more high end tuner quality than past K&N products I've bought, and my Evo was built by AMS, so I've seen some nice tuner hardware.

SMALL FILTER/ GREAT SYSTEM
Purchased K&N cold air kit. Very well designed but did not make any cool sounds on my Unitronic tuned 2022 GTI. No woosh or growls. The techs who installed it perfectly we're also amazed at the miniature conical K&N filter. I called K&N when I arrived home to ask what’s with the mini filter?I got an honest engineer who highly suggested I purchase either one of the two filters: RU 4960, or the more expensive RX 4960. I found these two demensionally identical filters looked, sounded and added substantial power. These should have come with the kit to begin with. They also fit perfectly.Otherwise this is a really nice kit. Remember K&N only does filtration, unlike the trendy other kits at far more money. I still would have purchased the K&N kit had it been more expensive. Great price and service from Amazon!

Sent the kit with the wrong tube
This is just to review K&N's obvious lack of quality control--I purchased a complete kit from them, had my old airbox assembly out and the very last part to install, a tube from the intake box to the turbo air inlet, was the wrong size. Doesn't even look like the picture of the tube that should have been sent, so it's clear no one is double checking these orders. If you want to get 90% done with an installation only to find you have the wrong part, go with them.

Wrong part
Update 07 Jan: 3/5 stars. I was contacted by K&N and they requested more information so they can replace the part. I will update again if part is replaced appropriately.Original: 1/5 star. One of the pipes is wrong. it is not the right shape, it will not fit. This would not bother me since everyone makes mistakes. It wouldn't bother me if the seller K&N would work to correct it. But they are not helping at all. I have sent 5 emails to their support email account with absolutely no response. Not even auto response. So I am forced to return this to Amazon. I will never buy from K&N again. And I will tell anyone looking into K&N parts how they have treated this customer. If this is how K&N treats customers when we ask for correction of their mistake, APR is going to get a lot more business.

Great Product, Poor Instructions
Would have been five stars if it had better instructions and the tubing was a bit longer.Install is straight forward and easy enough but the pictures on the included instructions are muggy at best and then the text under them says very little. I downloaded a copy on-line with clearer color pictures. (See FYI below for install tips)The sound under acceleration is vastly improved. You will hear the turbo BOV 'whistle' after hard acceleration.I can feel the car has more power under initial acceleration especially torque (had missed that from my previous diesel Golf). Too early to say on fuel but it seems highway MPG is up 2-3 miles.(FYI the vacuum hose simply pulls out of the OEM air box and the secondary air hose have a 'squeeze and pull type lock'. The piping is a bit short and you really need to adjust how far you push the piping in to the coupling hoses, I tried pushing them all all the way in first and came up over an inch short. It adjusted well though following the instructions. And last but not least, do step 17 before 11.)
