Perfect for the price
I picked this up to act as a repeater. This is how I rated the unit:-Performance of the router is great and it's CHEAP! Five stars.-Included instructional material could be a lot better, a lot more clear, and much more complete: subtract a star.-Edimax is still selling units that shipped with no PIN built in to the router, which can create a bit of a frustrating hassle when setting up a network in Windows 7. The Edimax solution: just connect without a PIN! They don't tell you that you're going to get prompted to set up a new network every time you connect to the router: subtract a star.Three stars. My first impression of the unit was that it is a plain, simple, ubiquitous white box with an antenna. The Edimax is literally an example of getting what you pay for; which, in this case, means that you're paying for a great product and getting poor instructions for how to use it.It doesn't come with much in terms of instructions, being a CD with .pdf copies of the instruction manual. There is no driver software for it, no application, etc. It runs directly from firmware that you log in to the router to use, which is how every other WiFi device I've used is been set up: no surprises. There is, however, no clear way to check firmware or update it if needed... which may be included in a firmware update? The instructions that are included can be difficult to understand the first time through and are obviously not put together by a native English technical writer. I believe that it would be a good idea for Edimax to invest in technical writers that understand English fluently, since technical things can be... technical. The instruction manual is incomplete for setting it up to act as a repeater. I had to go to the Edimax website and cruise their support section for a modified instruction set from another router in the same family. After having access to complete directions, I had the router set up in five minutes, but the entire process took me about forty-five minutes (this is the first repeater I've ever set up, so I find this time reasonable. I'm objecting only to having to hunt for proper instructions). This is a very self-service product: if you're familiar with technology like this, you'll probably have no problem setting it up. If you're not, or you have low reading comprehension with broken or awkward English, I'd recommend spending a few bucks more on a better-known brand to avoid the cost of frustration. As far as unit performance, the Edimax has worked flawlessly in the two weeks I've been using it. I haven't experienced any dropped signals, but I also unplug it when I'm not using it, so I reset it daily. As for it being difficult to reset should you need to, it's a button or the plug: nothing complicated or unique about the reset process, so don't be dissuaded. All in all, this is a great little router. It can be a bit more difficult than necessary to set up, depending on application. I would recommend it to technically-inclined friends and I would buy another if I ever need a second repeater. However, for people like my dad or girlfriend, who have little understanding or patience with technology, I would recommend a more "plug and play" unit. What you spend to get easier access to the same features you're going to save on that realization that you're among the technotarded.

Great little router
These re great little routers. They have features that some of the more expensive routers have, They might be a little difficult to set up if you do not have experience setting up routers. I set 7 of them up rather quickly in a hotel as AP's and they have a pretty good range on them. The hotel is completely covered now with no dead spots. I could walk away from the router about 100 feet and I still had 2 bars of signal. I would recommend these if you are looking for a cheap solution, or if you have to work within a very tight budget. They also have remote management which is a huge plus if you want to reset them and not have to be directly connected to the router itself.

Great little device
This is a great router. I am an IT professional and from my perspective, it was very easy to configure this to be a router or bridge or AP or whatever. I have used cisco and linksys, and I almost always have to change firmware to tomato or dd-wrt in order to do bridging well, and this little guy had presets for enabling that. Has a great range (picked up my AP that was over 700ft away) and ran at nearly full speed. At $20, nothing really comes close in terms of price / functionality. It's a nice looking device too, very compact. I ended up purchasing four and have had great success with all of them.

Nope
Didn't work fantastically.I think I returned it or gave it away, honestly wasn't worth the money. Its not a 400$ router, nor did I expect it to be, but i expected it to work consistently and it didn't.

Edimax BR-6228Ns review
I ordered this item on 5/20/11 and had it in my hands in 4 days, delivered by an outsourced FedEx service.I already had experience with the Edimax Nano Router, connected to the wired router in my system so I knew how to configure this as a wired access point. The manual is supplied as a PDF file on the CD if you need it. Plus the Edimax website:[...] has recently written FAQs on configuration. Also available is excellent telephone tech support by Judy....an actual person. Can you believe real people answer the phone and are willing to help for a $20 product? Believe it. Miracles ARE still possible in the 21st century.I have Comcast cable connected to my primary Dlink 704p wired router in turn connected to the Edimax. The 6228 also has 4 wired ports so if your wired local net needs more ports (mine did) this is a bonus. It's been 2 weeks since purchase and the Edimax as not missed a beat. My Samsung Galaxy S2 phone can pick up a router signal within 200 feet of the router. My Toshiba laptop can pick up a signal twice that far.If you need wireless access point, what are you waiting for? Buy this thing!Update....As of June 21, 2012 still working just peachy WITHOUT a reboot/reset.

Nice little router for the price
I actually bought two of these - One to hook wireless to my TV and another as a repeater for a friend for Christmas! Both were fairly easy to set up (I'm a little tech oriented) and you can't beat them for the price.

Great features though
Signal distance could have been stronger, removeable antenna would have solved that for me but unfortunately it cannot be removed. Great features though. Really great features, easy to use.

Does not work with windows 7
Save your money and buy a decent router. The box states it works with Windows 7 and Vista, it lied. I tried to set up on both operating systems and neither one works.

of little use
This was purchased as a router for home wireless use, but even our IT specialist (with their IT support contact) couldn't get it to work with our household's mixture of PC and MAC devices. It was tried as a repeater and worked well for about half and hour. It was a waste of money.
