Just bought two smoke detectors to replace two identical smoke detectors which, to be honest, just lazed around did very little over the last 2-3 years before taking early retirement. It's like the fire fighters at an airport, if they actually have to do something then it's all gone tits up, so who actually knows if these work at all?. Pleased to report however that the house is still going strong with very few fires.

Obviously well-designed and manufactured monitors. Clear instructions. Easy-to-fit batteries. Unobtrusive when fixed to wall. Loud alarm when testing ... nice to know they will warn of smoke/fire ... thus reassuring. Excellent value for these two units.

Good quality brand, easy to install, battery included.& good value. Optical type which is a better option for smouldering smoke fires.

One of the two alarms I received with this order failed giving a false alarm, the device was marked for replacement in 2031, it is now early 2024. I have replaced it with an ionisation based smoke detector.For now I cannot use this alarm, so am testing it along side another one. This is an optical (photoelectric I assume) smoke alarm that could be triggered by high humidity, and in this case the false alarm might have been cause by a fast drop in temperature, but then again it has probably been in similar conditions in the past.I use six smoke alarms throughout our home and have been looking after these and other alarms for over twenty years, I do replace them after around ten years and have a couple that have lasted around twelve and have failed by going into the low battery warning, but this is the first false alarm failure I have seen.
