Good but afew things to keep in mind
Was a bit of a gamble getting a case which had no reviews but it had some benefits that others didn't.- this case does actually also fit the 2018 modle as I thought it would as long as you're ok with the camera hole being too large.- pencil holder is at the top of the case when in the "typing mode" which is good for drawing and I guess also typing. It also has some extra length on it so I imagine it would hold a first generation pencil just fine.- when in the "typing mode" the inside side of the case ,that touches the screen when closed, is not in contact with the surface it's resting on (so the screen doesn't get covered in grime once closed as was the case with my last case which was a trifold case).- the rubber pads on the edge of the case for proofing the case up actually work unlike some other cases I've tried! However there are some things to keep in mind but I wouldn't instantly call them problems.- I asked whether the shell that clasped the iPad was a hard or soft plastic (aka rubber) I was told soft, which it is not, it's a hard plastic, which I'm fine with I just phrased the question poorly- when in the plastic holder the pencil will not charge as it is on the wrong side, however I don't see this as a problem as all it needs to do is protect the pencil in transit when my iPad is not in use and the pencil lasts a long time on a charge and charges quickly anyway.- the only problem is an aesthetic nitpick really as the voids at either side of the pencil holder look unfinished an slightly ugly with the inside of the pencil holder looking the same although with the price some other cases it's okay.Overall good case that with its design quirks actually serve my purposes quite well.

Decent case, but perhaps not if you use your Apple Pencil a lot!
Pros:- I really like the colour. Nice bright yellow without being garish or cheap looking. Not too shiny.- Screen wake/sleep function works perfectly.- Folds over into a very nice sturdy stand that can be usefully propped at a more upright angle (e.g. for watching vids) or at a flatter tilt (e.g. for sketching). Seems pretty stable in both positions.- iPad fits well into the moulded plastic surround and the cutouts for the camera and buttons are the correct size and shape.- Ports and speakers can all be accessed correctly and easily with the case on.Cons:- The moulded section that holds the Apple Pencil is on the left side of the iPad. This is a strange choice for its placement because the pencil is only able to charge when magnetically attached to the right hand side of the iPad. This is a massive con for me because my Apple Pencil is my most important tool when using my iPad. I need it to always be charged and ready to use. This case, therefore, forces me to choose between attaching it to the (unprotected) right hand side, which is possible by the usual magnetic method as this side is completely exposed (no plastic edging covers it), BUT. This would ensure it was always charged and ready for use whenever I need to work... however, it also is completely unprotected, leaving it not only exposed to damage, but actually very easily dislodged and lost altogether (for example when taking it in and out of a bag). Which then, leaves me with the second option: there is a slot on the left hand side of the iPad that is designed to fit the pencil. On this side it is nicely enclosed by the spine of the case and very well protected both from damage and from getting dislodged and lost. At first glance, this might seem like a nifty solution, which perhaps it is. If you only occasionally use the pencil. If your work isn’t reliant on it. If it isn’t going to cause too much of an inconvenience if you can’t attach it to your iPad inside your case and allow it to grab a quick charge as you rush between meetings because it’s run down and you’ll need it again in half an hour... so I guess how much of a problem this feature is for you depends on how crucial it is to you that your Apple Pencil be always charged and ready to go. And when there are plenty of cases that are very similar in look and add a similar amount of bulk to the iPad but have a protected pencil holder on the side that allows for constant charging... I can’t justify giving more than 3 stars for what I can only see as a short sighted choice of placement on this aspect of the case...For me, this case is a decent at home choice, I love the colour and I’m really impressed by the sturdiness and stability of the case when used as a stand at both angles. It provides an average amount of protection for this type of case with some major drawbacks for heavy users of the Apple Pencil who wish rely on the constant charge feature.
