This is exactly what the description says it is, and exactly what the description says it isn't. This is NOT a laser level. I must be missing something because how hard would it be to combine the laser level feature with a laser measurer? (and charge more for a more versatile tool) Seems to me it would only require another "mode" for the level feature and accurate laser beam alignment, which would improve the measuring function, but that's just me. As others have said, since this laser points where it wants to instead of being inline with the level length, getting accurate measurements can be a challenge because the beam wants to ricochet off a wall or other surface the unit is sitting on or close to. Still, I have to say it works in most cases. Bubbles and vials seem to be right on, or at least they agree with a much more expensive 2' level I own. The display inch fractions are difficult to read for my aging eyes, larger would be better. It's light enough to carry in my tool belt and I expect it to come in handy for occasional rough measuring. Comes with batteries and has clean lines that won't hang up on a pocket. I've compared it to a tape for distances of up to 10' inside and due to its wonky laser aim it's been mostly within 1/8" or 1/16" each time. Haven't tried it outside yet. It's mostly easy to use but you have to hold the main button down for a long time to get through the "continuous mode" before it will turn off manually. I might just opt to let it turn itself off. For taking accurate, outside measurements I'd probably rely on a more sophisticated tool but this is versatile, handy and light enough to warrant a spot for every day toolbelt carry. I'm generally not real hard on tools but we'll see how this holds up on a job site.

UPDATE: After returning the first defective example, I just received a replacement. It has exactly the same problem. There is clearly a quality control problem with the application of reference lines to the bubble level. This results in inaccurate readings. I've added more photos of the second example (3rd and 4th photos are the second level. This "level" deserves a one star rating until they fix the QC issue.Product is nice and easy to use. Unfortunately the item I received has misapplied reference rings on one of the bubble levels. The reference rings are not parallel. When using the level on its edge, the level is accurate with bubble midway between reference rings, but when laying flat, the bubble touches the ring. Looks simply to be a misapplied decal or gasket ring that are used for reference. In the pictures with the pencil, you can see how the flat reading is not level (wrong) but the on edge level is correct. The third photo shows that the left side ring is not installed properly as you shouldn't be able to see the top and bottom of the ring when looking straight down. Returned item for replacement. Will see if the replacement has the same issue.

Level works perfectly. Light weight which is great. This may be user error but when I place the this on the wall to use the red light, I cant see it on the wall unless I lift it up a little bit. Then I can't mark anything because I'm lifting it.
