Nice pliers and split ring opener.
This set of fishing pliers works well for removing and installing split rings. Its made of good quality material and built with exacting tolerances. I would give it a five (5) star rating if the cutters were located on the outside edge as I find those types of cutters much easier to work with and they can get closer cuts where needed. Otherwise, it's a very good product and comes with a laynard and sheath.

Well Crafted - But Not made for Heavy Duty Usage
These pliers are very well made. They are very light. I used them for about a year saltwater fishing. They never rusted or corroded. On small fish I had no problems, but when I had a difficult time removing a hook from a large Strip bass they twisted out of alignment. Probably a good choice for fresh water fishing.

Not durable
We were delighted with these pliers for the first month or two - lightweight, nicely finished, comfortable and good looking. But the screws that hold in the carbon steel tips slowly started to loosen and could not be retightened without stripping the threads in the soft aluminum body of the plier. The pliers became unusable after only 4 months - too late to return but not too late to warn others about this overpriced useless chunk of metal.

Not sure if it's made from japan but the pliers work very well on my trip. Light, sharp and head can be replace.
