Great low cost DIY gardening irrigation system
I've been using Mister Landscaper products for YEARS now and just love them. Lowes used to sell it but they don't seem to have it anymore, so when a couple of my stakes died due to long life and probably a bit of neglect on my part, I turned to Amazon for replacements. These stakes are just like the ones I already have, the product has not changed.A bit of advice for anyone interested in the Mister Landscaper system: It is dirt cheap (compared to formal plumbed systems, anyway) and all you need to install it are some scissors and maybe a trowel if you want to bury your main lines below the dirt. (I did not buy any of their dripper lines which would be buried a bit deeper.) The instructions did feel like VCR instructions at first, though -- I ended up reading and watching videos on it quite a bit at first. I forget which part of it came with a CD but something did. The main thing you want to be SURE TO DO is to use the backflow prevention device per their instructions so water from the system does not come into your house's water system and ruin your life. For a townhouse with a yard, this is all we needed, and I was able to design our system and install it with zero help from my husband. I set up irrigation for both the front and backyards for under $300.Three Very Important Takeaways for these stakes:1) DO NOT LOSE THE COLLAR -- this is a tiny bit of black plastic that looks vaguely like an o-ring with wings. I believe you can buy replacements, but just don't lose it. It should be zip-tied to the stake when you receive the stakes.2) You need to add a sprinkler head to make a functional stake, and these heads are sold separately in a variety of spray patterns. The head attaches to the stake via the collar. Without the collar, the head will just fly off the stake the second that water hits it.3) The 1/4" line on the stake is a decent length, but depending on your needs and where your main 1/2" lines are laid, you may want to replace it with a longer section of line to get the stake placement you want. I went in halfsies on a separately purchased roll of 1/4" line with a friend who also has this system since neither of us needed all that much.4) Bonus tip, not really stake-related: The 1/2" main line is not rigid and you should avoid walking on it. When I ran the main line across pathways, I threaded it through a short 2-3 foot section of 1" rigid black plastic (PVC?) pipe that I bought at Home Depot for a few dollars. Bury it a few inches, no one will know it's there, you won't be tripping on it, and you can run over it with a wheelbarrow or whatever and not damage your system.

Buy full kits instead of individual parts
This sprinkler system is great. But my advice is to buy full kits. I have learned the hard (and expensive) was that to complete your system, it's better, easier and cheaper to buy a full system/kit. Even if you don't need all the parts that are in the set, it still ends up being cheaper and you will appreciate having spare parts!
