The Mountaineer II is a Winter fleece vest with integrated harness jumper/jacket that will surely keep your furry friend warm through the cold season. It features a Backside zipper closure and fits like a vest (the collar portion), with an added Puppia Sports rubber label for looks. It is available in Red, Pink, Camo and Black in sizes ranging from Small to Double XL. Please note that because these products were created with small/medium dog breeds in mind, larger sizes (i.e. Large, Extra-Large, etc.) do not necessarily mean larger breeds. Please refer to image of the size chart. It is very important to measure your dog with a tape measure according to the size chart. As a general rule of thumb, if your dog falls in between sizes, it is usually better to go up a size. Any weight figures are for estimates only. Always use actual measurements. Please note that when measuring your dog for clothing, it's very important to have an accurate measurement of your dog's neck and chest girth. IMPORTANT: Please note that when measuring your dog, the measurement for the neck must be taken at the BASE OF THE NECK and chest girth must be taken behind the front legs. Also it is important to take into account the size of the dog's head as well as neck girth and chest girth. Since some dogs have a much larger head than their neck, please be sure that the neck opening is large enough to slide over your dog's head.

Great product, odd sizing :(
My 3 year old Boston terrier grew up with these Puppia coat/harness combos. However she JUST barely grew out of the size L. I tried out a size XL and it's way too big unfortunately. It's too loose and the back flares up and out not providing a warm layer. I love these harness/coat combos from Puppia and I'm bummed we will have to look around for something else that fits.My Boston is about 16 lbs. and petite but fit so the L was perfect up til now. Keep making quality products, Puppia! Maybe there will be an in-between size between L and XL someday. :)

Super cute!
I bought these coats to help keep my little dogs warm. I love how they fit fully around their bellies. The builtin harness makes me feel good about taking them out without an additional harness. These do run small. I have a chihuahua and chiweenie. The chihuahua is a little rounder in the belly and my chiweenie is longer bodied. The small coats were just too small. The med fits perfectly! Both are about 7.5lbs. These coats are really worth the price.

Nice harness and jacket, runs small
Very convenient item, and it feels secure when fastened, my pup couldn’t wriggle out of it. Love that it has a ring for tags also, zips easily. I do have to be careful not to catch fur in it.Runs small as others have said, my dog is a very lean 15 lbs, and this Large is very snug around his rib cage.Plan to use this daily this winter!

Sizing way off
I purchased a medium and large and ended up returning both. My dog’s neck measures 11” and her chest about 16”. The medium wouldn’t zip up the whole way, and the large was so big I didn’t even bother trying to put it on her. It seemed very well made and I loved the built in harness, but it wasn’t meant to be I guess.

Sizing is WAY OFF
My dog is 10 lbs and the medium did not fit! I just ordered a large and it that doesn't fit I give up. Be aware when ordering, it is a nice jacket!

Coat is warm but not bulky
I love everything about this coat but it took a while to get the right size. (That's the only reason I gave it 4 starts instead of 5.) The third try was the one that fit. That sizing chart from Puppia is USELESS. Based on that, I ordered a Large and the two sides didn't even come close to closing to zip it up - about a 4-5" gap! Ordered an XXL - way too big - then the XL worked. My dog is a 14 lb. Chihuahua mix. It's a little long for him, but it'll work. It's really well made with good materials and findings. the plastic snap that closes the two sides of the harness is easy to clip and unclip. Some snaps are really hard to unclip. But the things I really like is that it's bright orange so I can see my little woodland creature in the distance at the dog park running around in the brush. And that the harness is on the outside which solves that horrible problem of not being able to clip his leash on the coat when he's not wearing a harness. Works great. One other thing I like . . . the collar is split at the back of the neck - not the bottom of the neck - so he can comfortably lift his head up when he's on his mission.

Zipper is very small. Too hard to use.
****Change in review: I was desperate to have a coat to put on my Schnauzer puppy and had already decided to keep the medium and let him grow into it as well as getting the smaller one. Because it was so cold this morning I went ahead and tried the medium coat on him because the small coat wasn't here yet. I'm going to have to send both these coats back. The zipper on the back of these coats is very small. Trying to get this very small zipper zipped up with a dog who is fighting you is too hard. When I saw the picture of the zipper on the coat I thought that it would be a larger zipper. This zipper is so small it's like a zipper for doll clothes. Sorry Puppia. This was just a mistake on your part. I'm going somewhere else to get a coat for my dog now.I bought the Puppia Mountaineer Coat II (with attached harness) for my Schnauzer puppy. I got it in a medium because he wears a small harness right now and I read that the coats run small. It is way too big for him, but I'm going to keep it because where I am from the winters are cold and long and it will be perfect when he grows into it. I am going to order a small for now. This is kind of pricey, but his puppy vest is so well made that I decided two puppia coats with the built-in harness are definitely worth it. He will be my last dog so I am going to spoil the heck out of him. Heh.

SIZE!!!
I ordered a medium for my 11lb dog and it is teeny, tiny and will have to be returned for a large which totally blows my mind. I think you need to be way more specific on sizing. Obviously my rating is bogus since she has not worn it and all I can comment from is having held it in my hands.

Good Quality and Fit
I looked at the range of dog coats available with integral harnesses and this make really was the only one that seemed of reasonable quality, although I consider the price a little excessive. I ordered the red and it turned up today, a day earlier than Amazon said! The coat is very good quality, the outer fabric strong like a human anorak and the inside a nice soft black (or maybe very dark navy) fleece. The harness is securely sewn to the coat and I expect it will be strong enough for my small Westie cross. She weighs 8Kg. I have tried the jacket on her and it fits well. She takes a large in the Puppia harness but following the sizing guide I bought an XL in this jacket and it fits her perfectly. I have measured the jacket and would say the XL size measurements they give are spot on the size of the coat I received. Very pleased so far, although she hasn't worn it outside yet. One point, it does say hand wash only on the label and also recommends to "Lay down in the shade to dry". I'm guessing this label was not designed for the UK market. It also says "Could be a Nappy"! On that curious note I will sign off.

SIZING INACCURATE, BUT LOVELY COAT
I only have a teacup longhaired Chihuahua and based on his measurements medium was closest to his measurements, albeit should have been on the large size. Turned out to be too small, could just about zip up but fitted like a corset and could have done with another three or four centimetres extra length. However, very well made coat, nice harness for lead attachment, looks warm and waterproof. Not sure if worth the money, but difficult to say without seeing my dog in a better fitting coat. I feel large would probably be too big overall and probably too long on his body, so not suitable for my fur baby I feel. May order in large to to try, but I've already found alternative dog coats with attached harnesses through Amazon that fit nicely, so not desperate. Recommended if you can get the right size and fit for your fur baby.

Smart, practical coat.
This coat( large) is for a 4.5 kg ,imperial shih tzu.A standard shih tzu would need a bigger size. The coat is very good quality, a very good fit, has a secure clip and an easy zip.We are delighted with it .She has jacket harnesses from this company, so perhaps some useful information to pass on is that the sizes in coat, seem to correspond to the sizes of the Puppia b jacket harness.

EXPENSIVE BUT SO WORTH IT
WOW so pleased with this coat; I have been looking for a coat for my dog with a strong built in harness for 3 years; I have purchased the cheaper models but soon after the D ring tears away from the coat, its true you only get what you pay for. This jacket is well made and has a really strong harness; its light weight but warm. I always purchase X large in harness jackets and they are always too big and I have to take them apart and do a complete refit for my dog. The X large in this coat is perfect; she is only small and is a pug cross so she has a rounded breast and chest and it fits well; it is a little wide on the rear end for her but like human clothes you cant always get the perfect fit. Although it is black, with the pink/purple lining and zip it is very girly and smart. It is expensive but well worth it, so happy so is my little pooch. Thanks for the excellence service by the Seller arrived so quickly. Highly recommend product and seller.

Lovely but.........
XL too big and the L was too small. My dog is only 6kg. The back of the coat also goes up in the air when my dog puts her head down creating a draught up inside the coat. Dissappointed as i really liked them. Having to return
