It CAN handle the heat of deep frying in cast iron
Overall I’m quite impressed. I bought this to deep fry chicken in because my old induction cooktop would overheat before it got to 360° and I was tired of trying to regulate the temperature on my gas stove. So, just to test it out, I put 1.5” of cooking oil in a 10 inch cast-iron Dutch oven pot. In “FRY” mode It reached 360° in 13 minutes. I let it go to see how hot it would get (still set on “FRY 360°) if I just let it sit there. It appeared to top out at 390° at 36 minutes. So, at 41 minutes, still hovering at 390°, I lowered in a small batch of frozen tater tot’s. They cooked in about 7 minutes. The oil temperature when I took the tots out was about 325°. It heated back up to 360° in 2 minutes! Now, I realize this is only 1.5” of oil so it might take longer with more oil, but I thought it performed well. The timer will let you know how long you have had the unit on if you don’t set the timer for a specific amount of time. The manual that came with it says “60 minutes “on” in a two hour period” in the safety instructions section. I could not find any other explanation about how long the unit would run in the manual. So, after the tots were done, I left the unit on to see if it would stay on longer than 60 minutes by itself and it did. The timer can be set for up to 3 hours. The unit did not smoke or have any strange smells coming from it when I used it. I hope this lasts a long time. For the price, you can’t beat it.

Overall decent
Enjoyed this more than I was expecting. I had never used any kind of induction burner before and was blown away by the technology, instant heat and more accurate temperature control. It makes cooking some things like steak waaay easier. I have used the unit for about two months now, multiple times a week and sometimes for more than an hour at a time without any issues. I've mainly been cooking with an 8-inch lodge cast iron skillet and thats been a perfect match for the burner. The only thing that annoys me is that it seems to cycle on and off at the two lowest settings, but the cycles are too slow, you can get around this by just turning the burner up to cycle it yourself. But I'm still happy because I was already expecting this with a lower end unit. Another thing to note is that it seems extremely similar to the Amazon Basics model and I'm not really sure what the difference is besides price. Overall satisfied, I don't even use my normal stove anymore.

DOES NOT WORK ON STAINLESS STEEL AS ADVERTISED
i HAVE 2 STAINLESS PANS AND NEITHER ONE IS MAGNETIC AND DO NOT WORK ON THIS COOKTOP EVEN THOUGH THEY SAY IT WORKS WITH STAINLESS. GOOD STAINLESS IS NOT MAGNETIC. IF THE STAINLESS RUSTS THEN IT WILL WORK. I'M A COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN AND OFTEN WE TAKE ALONG A MAGNET WHEN SHOPPING STAINLESS FITTINGS FOR OUR VESSELS.THE MANUAL STATED THE TEMPERATURE ONE GETS WITH THE VARIOUS SETTINGS. WELL LEVEL2 SAYS A TEMPERATURE ON 200f. WATER BOILS ON THIS SETTING SO IT'S PROBABLY A BIT OVER 212F.THE MANUAL SAYS TO ONLY RUN IT ONE HOUR IN A TWO HOUR PERIOD WHICH IS NOT MENTIONED ONLINE. KIND OF A BUMMER LIMITED LIKE THAT.i DID WRITE THE COMPANY ASKING HOW MUCH WEIGHT THAT COULD BE USED ON THE GLASS TOP BUT THEY NEVER ANSWERED. I HAVE A STOCK PAN THAT CAN HOLD OVER 3 GALLONS AND WAS WONDERING IF THAT WOULD WORK.IN ALL FAIRNESS, IT DID A GOOD JOB WITH BACON AND EGGS. BUT KIND OF WISH I HAD JUST GOT A REGULAR HOTPLATE FOR A LOT LESS MONEY. I'M NOT AS IMPRESSED AS I WISH I WERE.IT BOILS WATER LIKE CRAZY ON SETTING "1" WHICH IS SUSPOSE TO BE 160F. THAT OVER 40 DEGREES OFF. i JUST GAVE IT A ONE STAR, YOU CAN'T GO BY THE MANUAL OR GET HELP FROM THE COMPANY.

Nice and easy to use
I got from a friend recommended with this function and easy for me to use at my little room, I can make all kind of food with this. It’s easy to clean after used, abut noisy while turn on but it light weight and I can put it away after use without wasting the space

Basic but very good for 35 bucks
First the good news appetizer. Tabletop induction cookers are far superior to "coil type" hotplates. You must get 2-3 pieces of induction compatible cookware but from there you can go far.I have 2 very good "Greenpan" ceramic coated pots and a 9 inch, W-Mart (camping section) cast iron pan. Cast iron is fairly easy to season and maintain too.Now the main course.Cooking performance - Lower than advertised;Compared to my 2015 "Gowise" 1800W. Does not heat as fast / size of cooking area is smaller (only about 75% power is actually delivered to the cookware). You might say it's effectively only a 1400 Watt cooker.Cooking controls - below expectations; The timer is very limited b/c you can only set it once. You cannot adjust the timer up/down after beginning to cook. You can only reset to zero and must set it again. Not a deal breaker but just awkward. The alternating display of timer/power setting is annoying. The manufacturer clearly cut corners here. The power settings (from 1-8) are not labeled by Watts of output. The values are only listed in the user manual (you must have it hanging around your kitchen).Cleanup is easy - (just like other induction cookers);Sealed up well against spills and grease.Final thoughts - Good for the discount price;I got it for a backup unit in case my main cooker had to be repaired/replaced to bridge the gap until then. OK for a college student or occasional extra cooker at holiday time. Look for a better cooker for everyday use.
