Complete Narrative
I was very young when Guyana events happened. Did not have most of the information contained in this book and was very interesting for me to learn more about Jim Jones and this people who surrendered their will to this mad man. It is a really sad story but a lesson to all.

Don't Bother
This book has so many grammatical, spelling and formatting errors that I almost can't finish reading it. It looks like it was written by a high school student. Was it even edited? If so, that editor needs to be fired.I also find some of the data to be questionable. There is no reference cited to prove many of the more salacious of the allegations and the conspiracy theories make it seem like something the author came up with on his own.Don't bother.

Don't bother reading this book.
The editing done on this book is terrible. The spelling and grammar make it very difficult to read and clearly understand. I was so excited to read this after listening to a podcast interview with the author but was so disappointed with it.

this was a pretty good book
Although I'm more a fan of fiction, this was a pretty good book.

This just in: BOOK EDITOR MISSING IN ACTION. WE NEED A NEW EDITOR!
The absolutely horrendous errors in writing (grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc.) make this book difficult to read, but I intend to power through it regardless - simply for the topic itself. Photos would have been nice, too.

Give it a try
Thought it was pretty good. Got a little wordy towards the end but I liked it.

Read the first 80%, stop at the anti drug rants.
The author uses Freedom Magazine as a reference in Chapter 16 of the book, and while the author declares its affiliation with Scientology, he does not acknowledge the anti-drug bias of the organisation. In my own opinion, using this magazine as a reference essentially invalidates the entire chapter, one where the book goes off on a strange tangent against drugs and the CIA.I enjoyed 80% of the book, but the last 20% is just conjecture and unsubstantiated allegations.

Great book, let down by apalling orthography
Well written and researched, very gripping account of what happened. Whoever proof read this book chose the wrong career. The spelling is appalling: their instead of they're, diseased instead of deceased, steeling instead of stealing, use of simple past tense where it is clearly wrong, the list is very long. At times I felt like I was reading through a teenager's text message. Good book otherwise though.

Such an interesting read.
I was obsessed with this book. Coming from the UK and born in 1985 I was aware of this incident but wasn't overly clued up on what exactly happened, it was only when it was mentioned in brief in another book I read that I thought I'd look into it more. The back story of Jim Jones and how the peoples temple was formed is very interesting and sets it up to the sad day that most people will remember Jim Jones for. He clearly was deeply disturbed and slowly got worse over time and became so wrapped up in his own "god like" status that a disaster was always inevitable and sadly so many people had to die for the "cause" Lots of accounts from defectors who bravely stood up to him give you first had accounts of the terrible things that happened inside people temple. What I found so sad and annoying was that he clearly was a fantastic public speaker and could engage anyone into his thinking, I only wish he had found a cause that could have made a difference in this world then we would have remembered him for probably truly amazing work rather than being a mass murderer as that is what he is, It will always be remembered as a mass suicide but I have no doubt this was a mass murder of poor venerable people.

Amateurish Author
I'm not a writer so I'm not insinuating that I could do better, but this is amateurish at best. I am only continuing to read the book as I'm now invested in the "story" but seeing as that's based on truth it isn't difficult for the "story" to be gripping.

Poor grammar, terrible spelling and bad use of punctuation
I expected this to be a very interesting read as it is a subject I am very interested in. My reading experience was spoiled by poor grammar, bad spelling and terrible use of punctuation. Do these writers not employ editors? As a journalist I would be fired for submitting work of this standard. While I appreciate everyone has to start somewhere, if you are charging four pounds or more for a book at last have it professionally edited. I have returned the book for a refund.
