A must have for every network tech bag
I keep one of these with me in a bag you never know when you might run into a router or switch with a DB9 console port.It works and it's a good insurance policy. (This assumes you also have a DB9 to USB adapter with you as well)What I keep with me(1) StarTech DB9 RS232 Serial Null Modem Adapter - F/F(2) StarTech.com 10-Feet DB9 RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable(3) Plugable USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Adapter

Works like it should
It's just a null modem adapter, but it was well priced and works just as it should. It came with some stand-offs, but I didn't need them. I needed it to join two USB to DB9 serial adapters, where one port is used for the main program and the other is an emulator of what's on the other end of the cable, like a local loop-back.

Null Modem
Excellent sale, good communication, fast shipping, product works, and overall worth the price. A+++, interfaced well with USB/RS232 serial cable and Cisco Managed router cable.

It works
It works. What more can I say? it is an eggshell color, made of hard plastic and has four finger screws on it. Because it is a female 9 pin on both sides it has 18 total holes in it.(Reviews must contain at least 20 words about the product)

Nullicious
The best adapter out there for high speed use .. up to 920 kHz was this one, unlike others whose have trouble over 215 kHz.And it is a NULL modem adapter, so be sure that's important:-- it usually is~!

Not a Null Modem in the truest sense of the word, but it's adequate I guess...
I won't lie. I bought this on a whim to see how it'd compare to its Monoprice-manufactured counterpart, and frankly I'm not impressed.Sure, it'll do the job in a simple configuration where swapping TX/RX pins is sufficient, but as another reviewer pointed out, pins 1 and 9 are wired straight through as opposed to 4 & 6 (opposing side) and disconnected, respectively. Will it make a difference in most applications? Probably not, but me? I'd rather just "buy once - cry once."You might also be fooled into thinking the thumbscrews are a redeeming quality, but sadly they're not. In fact, the threads are just barely long enough to screw into 4-40 female standoffs. Sometimes, folks, a silly millimeter CAN make all the difference in the world. My honest opinion? Heed the warnings of other reviewers and purchase a Monoprice 101137 instead, and get used to pulling out your "tweaker" every time you need to install and uninstall it. Ironically, the aforementioned alternative is cheaper than StarTech's offering by about 80 cents. Go figure. 9_9Three stars. Meh.Pinouts for the really curious:1 -> 12 -> 33 -> 24 -> 65 -> 56 -> 47 -> 88 -> 79 -> 9

VERY handy connector!
I really needed a Null Modem adapter to go between my USB-to-Serial cable and my computer I was connecting to. This little connector was the best item, as it is simple, small, and gets the job done! No hassles, no issues, just solid, reliable product!
