There is an opening to put the air tag into the bracelet tht is warn against the skin it is a pretty tight fit for the tag shouldn’t be n issue for the pool being the tags are water proof in the first place

I purchased this AirTag Wristband Kids (2-Pack) in the Rainbow color for my grandchildren, ages 3 and 8, to wear at Disneyland in December. They worked great & the kids loved wearing them. The fit says 4.7-inches to 7.9-inches and my granddaughters had no problem keeping them secure on their wrists. Depending on the size of the 1-year old, you could consider adjusting the band around the ankle or upper part of the arm. The nylon bands are not scratchy so would be comfortable with either placement, and also could be placed over a sleeve or sock.
