Sam's Natural Deodorant Stick - Wilderness, Aluminum Free, Vegan, Cruelty Free, 3 oz

I have to start by saying that I’m really sad that I have to stop using this stuff, because it really works, and I love the smell.However, I ended up in the doctors office, with a scalpel to the armpit, to drain the pus out of the infection that came from using this product. I had a huge painful lump about half the size of a golf ball. After a course of antibiotics I was well though i now have a scar in my armpit from the surgical procedure.I initially didn’t connect it to the deodorant- I went a few months of using it again and all of a sudden I started getting these painful red infection lines and swollen bumps again. This time I spread triple antibiotic cream on my armpits, and after about 5 days of application everything went away. After a few months this whole process got repeated again. So after 3 infections now, a $400 doctor bill, and a permanent scar, I’m finally pulling the plug on this deodorant. I don’t know why it took me so long to connect the dots.Please learn from my experience and avoid!

I generally prefer to create my own cologne scents as many commercial ones contain scents that I am allergic to. I can use some commercially available deodorants, and have one based on sandalwood I have been using for years. That said, I am always looking to try new products that compliment the scents I create. One of the more widely used undertones in men’s scents is patchouli. People love to hate it, yet readily use big name scents that contain patchouli. This product delivers.Pros: this is definitely patchouli. A darker patchouli with the earthiness that you find in more expensive oils. It works. I will wear this during my work from home shifts and it keeps the pit stink at bay. I also managed to keep from being eaten alive by late summer mosquitos thanks to the insect repellent nature of patchouli.Cons: there is no doubt you are wearing patchouli on your pits! Depending on your friends and family, it may be too much for them. Read the instructions that come with it. As with many deodorants made with essential oils, it can cause some irritation if you are sensitive to it or apply too much.This is going to last me quite some time, but I would consider another tube when this runs out. Only thing that would make it better in my opinion is if it was a blend of dark patchouli and sandalwood. That would fit with every other scent I wear.

I’ve used this deodorant now for 8 months and really enjoy it! No rashes or allergies for me. You don’t need much (like one swipe) to make it work. Only use one swipe and I don’t have staining on my clothes. The only thing I wish this company would look into is the Plastic 7 container it’s put in. I don’t know a place that actually recycles plastic 7 items and I’m sure no curbside pick up does either. I’ve recently changed my deodorant to the Humble brand because their deodorant is now in a cardboard tube - you just push up from the bottom when you want to us and push down when you put the cardboard lid back on. It’s 100% biodegradable when done! Unfortunately I don’t see the cardboard containers on sale yet on Amazon. Bought my cardboard tube of deodorant at a local natural grocery store. However, this design is simple, genius! Hoping Sam’s Naturals can switch over too.

When Mennen stopped making musk, I couldn't find anything that didn't smell like deodorant Tried another patchouli stick , and my pits broke out. No rash and I don't smell like Vito on the elevator..

A scant swipe of this stuff does a crazy great job of keeping the funk away for 48 hours. The patchouli scent is pretty light (I wouldn’t mind more but let’s be honest it’s easy to go overboard as anyone not wearing patchouli will happily tell you). No gross break in period, and when I decide to stop wearing for a few days nothing weird with my own musk either. This is good and predictable stuff.
