It is lightweight and collapsible but sturdy and so cute. It ships flat and there are no stays in the sides to hold the basket up, but the sides are stiff enough to prop up and stay up; once you add content, it stands up better. It is also lined, which should help with durability; it is made from a blend of cotton and linen material. It is just so pretty, kind of a decorative basket in the country style. It has two thick handles that help you to pick the storage up. The very top has a pull string closure so if you are storing any things inside of it you can close it to keep them from getting dusty, or you just do not want other people to see what you stored inside. It also has a clear plastic coating inside in case of spills or accidents, so there may be a smell when opening the package, almost plastic-and-fabric-like, but it dissipates quickly.
