Heartbreaking tale of a little girl who defied all the odds
Heartbreaking tale of a little girl whos strength and perseverance helps her defy all the odds This is a charming delivery of her story that kept me captivated and had me hoping for that light at the end of the tunnel the whole book . All that she had been through she turned into and amazing compassionate woman that I am so privileged to know from all her work in animal rescue she volunteers countless hours to the lost, hurt and stray animals of Philadelphia.

Heartbreaking
My first time ever reading this book was in 3rd grade. My mom was in college at the time and one night she brought home this book. It was her assignment. I HATED to read. But this book caught my attention. Every day I would bring it to school and read it. I read this book 4-5 times every year. I am now in 10th grade and to this day, I still can’t get enough of it. It is so heart touching and made me cry at so many points. It made me learn that not everyone seems the way society tells us. I had about 6 copies of this book because i read it so much that it started to break down. To this day, I hated to read any other book except for this one. Absolutely love it.

heartbraking and inspirational
i met jerri briefly and she told me about her book. i went home that night and downloaded it. i couldnt put the book down once i started it. She pulls at your heart but isnt looking for pity. She points out the coldness and detachment of her blood relatives as well as "professionals" whose job it was to help...yet jerri never really condemned anyone or anything except the foster system. I loved this book. I think its message is extremely important. Everyone should read this. This is one amazingly strong woman.

Crowd pleaser
I taught this novel to a class of 9th graders and it was the first thing they jointly listened quietly to all year. Incredible book.

Touching
What I loved about this book is it showed me what I should appreciate more in life. It made me realize how foster kids feels and the things that have to go through with abuse and neglect. Very inspiring and touching .

Love lost within itself.
I was extremely moved by this story. No child should have to live with the turmoil of death and lost love and abandonment . The body and mind can go hand and hand but to be without love is a tragedy in itself. Read this book...it will make you mad, cry, happy and hopeful.
