Excellent product - well designed
Good points:It has removable batteries. I like this because I can remove them if it starts to go wrong, or if I'm going away for a while. It is easy to fit - you just put 2 screws through the backing plate and fix this to the wall. Then simply twist the detector on to the plate. Very easy. The test button produces a tone that is at a lot lower volume than the proper alarm. So testing doesn't make you jump out of your skin.A very well though out product 10/10

So far so good
Bought lots of FireAngels over the years, always very pleased with them. The 10 year ones never last me 10 years though, more like 6 or 7, so this time I went for one with replaceable AA cells as they're dirt cheap (Alkaline GP brand, really good value for money, I've been buying those for years too). All fine on installation, popped straight into the old FireAngel ceiling mount that I'd installed for the previous one. However I thought I might have to send this one back as we had a nuisance alarm from it on around the 3rd night after installation at 3am, grrrrrrrrrr! I pulled the batteries out as there was clearly no cause for alarm, and reinstalled again the next day and it's been fine since, so, so far so good, hopefully it has "bedded-in" now :o) UPDATED Dec2023 - That initial glitch didn't repeat itself, so I've bought another one to replace another 10-yr one (as usual only 7 year!) now which is fine so far :o) They fit straight into the existing mounting plates of my previous generation FireAngels which is super! UPDATE Oct2024 - AA cells still above 1.5V each after about a year, so it looks like AAs will probably last about 2 years which sounds fine. No more nuisance alarms after that first glitch so I'm ordering more as my last remaining 10year alarm has actually reached 10 years and needs binning.

Relatively easy to install
Nice alarms, easy to “use”, but I found the method of attaching them to the wall slightly tricky - the position of the screws isn’t a standard gap. Otherwise really good for the price.

Excellent.
About the least ugly smoke alarm available.Replaceable batteries which is a must. Can be set off by steam so be aware when installing. Mine was in the hallway near the bathroom shower and went off a lot!

Updated version to replace existing FireAngel alarms that were over 5 years old
Replaced my old FireAngel alarms with this updated version. The old ones had batteries you could not replace. The new one has replaceable batteries. Which is good (maybe). The instructions say you should consider replacing the unit after five years anyway. Advice on the Internet says ten years, so that's why there is a "Maybe" - but you cannot put a price on safety, and it is better to be safe than sorry. They fitted directly into the existing frames, making installation a complete doddle.

Great Design
For ease of installation and maintenance these are now my go to fire alarms. First they use AA batteries, so no fiddling about with those annoying clip on 9V batteries and the 5 year battery life seems ideal. Second the hardware supplied to screw to the ceiling is perfect, just right for the job. Third they are easy to test with the push of a large button. Thankfully though I haven't had a property fire yet so I can't vouch for their efficacy in that situation.

Should I buy anything with a warranty from Amazon ever again?
Bought this smoke alarm in Nov 2022 from Amazon and it started going off for no reason this week. Went on the Amazon webiste to get some help with it and tried the troubleshooting guide (replace batteries, clean the alarm, etc) but nothing worked as it was still going off (the full alarm, not replace the batteries beep). As the alarm had a 5 year warranty I thought that I could get a replacement for this defective one. I contacted Amazon and found that they do not honour the 5 year manufacturer's warranty and that they would only offer a return and reorder, not a replacement. I spoke to a manager who told me that there is a 2 year Amazon warranty but only on the price paid at the time, therefore if they sell you a defective item that you need replacing they will only refund you what you paid at the time and then you will have to reorder the item. If the price on that item has gone up (which it has by over 36% ) you will end up having to pay more, all because they sold you a defective item. In the end I accepted the refund, but I will buy a different alarm from somewhere else. This was only a low price item but I'm now left wondering if I should be buying any high value item where you might need to rely on a warranty.

Multisupport
