## Description

Kensington Orbit Optical Trackball

Review: Great But Takes Getting used to - I have used these track ball mouses for years and these are extremely sensitive to your movements. Especially in combination with increasing/changing the sensitivity in your settings, if you like responsiveness and already have some good hand eye coordination then this could be really great for you. For people who want something more straight forward and don't have the patience then I don't recommend this. This tracker ball is actually amazing for gaming and the in office use (after almost using these for ten plus years) because the ergonomic design prevents hand cramping, and you never need a dumb mouse pad, or run in the trouble of moving the mouse off the mouse pad because you never have to move your arm around for it! I love how both left and right hand users can use this mouse equally, the design makes for incredibly easy movements that are not interrupted by any weird grooves or even the placement of your other fingers. I noticed many ppl didn't like this flexibility and the placement of the ball, as it is not fixed into any one positon and can easily be removed and picked up. But this is something that actually makes cleaning the inside of the mouse (removing dust from the sensors and keeping the mouse on a smooth roll) incredibly easy and actually maintains the sensitivity of the mouse, since there is less friction between other parts of the mouse that slow you down. Also if you are constantly pushing the tracker ball with too much pressure or too close to the edges in a lifting motion, of course it will pop out, it happens, and definitely not often, it takes practice to use and if you don't find it comfortable and don't hate mousepads and the problems with conventional mouses enough to learn a whole new kind of hand eye coordination then maybe it's not for you. These have sped up my work and reactivity so much, so even though this unfortunately doesn't have a scroll option, this is not really gonna be a deal breaker, especially when it's super easy to scroll down with the key board. That is the one thing I wish they would fix about this product if it wouldn't mess with the design of it!!
Review: I love this trackball! - The first thing that impressed me was the thick cardboard packaging. Super protective. Opened it up, was surprised that the ball was so loose. I had been used to ones that held the ball in, even if dropped. Plugged it in to my 2004 Lenovo computer, heard that sound, you know what I mean, acknowledging it. Put my hand on it, rolled the ball around, and nothing happened on the screen. No matter what I did it just didn't work at all. I was disappointed. In the evening I took it to the bedroom, plugged it in my 2014 Acer laptop on the off chance it might work, and whaddaya know?! It worked perfectly! I'm very, very happy with it! It will live with the laptop and my other trackball will stay with the computer. Other than the looseness of the ball, which I can live with, I love this trackball!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I can't figure out how to scroll with it, can someone give me a clue? I don't want to drag, just scroll down websites...**
A: I can scroll just fine with mine. If you are set for right-handed use, hold the left button down with your thumb and roll the ball up and down to scroll. If you're set up for left-handed use, you'd use the right button with your left thumb.

**Q: The product photo doesn't show a cord. Is this corded? Thx.**
A: yes, it has a usb cord attached.

**Q: They say the lenght and width are 6 w x 7.9 l . their no where near that. why do they measure items by the size of the box? :)**
A: It actually measures 5 W x 5.75 L. I don't know why they gave the dimensions that they gave. It's very ergonomic, cool looking, easy to use, and uses laser technology. It does not operate like a conventional mouse. You do not move the housing you only rotate the ball. It is larger than a conventional mouse with two button operation. I'm very satisfied with mine.

**Q: will the kensington trackball work with windows xp**
A: Yes, I've used it on XP, Win 2000 and earlier as well as Win 7.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good successor to my prior trackballs. May it be as durable!
*by A***R on July 31, 2025*

My old one had earned retirement - paddle contacts wore out. The new one wants to lean forward just a millimeter; a bit awkward, and the ball feels a bit looser than the old model. That said, it works just fine. I adjusted my grip just a bit so my palm keeps the back end down, and my fingers touch the ball slightly higher than before. Just minor adjustments on a fine product at a reasonable price.
