CobraHG S100 - Dynamic External CB Speaker, Sound, Rugged Design , Black

I bought this to go in my freightliner plow truck. With the sound of pushing a plow, all the hydraulic controls and the sound of the engine I could barely hear my CB when it was turned all the way up. This speaker mounted up with 2 screws, just ran the wire and plugged it in and it was good to go. Couldn't get any easier. Now I keep my CB volume between 1/4 and 1/2 and I can hear it just fine. WARNING: Do not test the speaker with the volume all the way up

When off roading with the radio on low to medium or in inclement weather it was difficult to hear the small speaker in the Cobra 75. This external speaker solved that problem. Speaker works great. Easily heard. Can't say the noise cancellation feature does much but maybe it would be different for on road applications. I mounted the external speaker on my Jeep JKs dash. Remove the rubber dash storage compartment, remove the mounting screw and install mounting bracket using Jeep factory screw. What a difference.

Solid, compact and good quality as expected. Decent amount of connector wire, too. All hardware included; fast install depending on vehicle. My 2002 Envoy engine compartment is so packed I could not use the mounting bracket. I'm high up in the Montana Rockies and simply installing in grill or more exposed position didn't seem advisable but housing/quality solid enough to jam in a small space w/o worry.

This is a great speaker and works really great for a CB. It is pretty universal. I thought it would be a bit smaller but it still mounts just fine to our jeeps. Super easy to connect since you don't have to run any wires, you just have to plug them in the back of the CB but don't have to wire anything to the actual jeep.

So I purchased this speaker to replace the anemic 2" speaker I currently have for HAM radio. This speaker has a very nice and powerful sound. The only issue is the audio sounded very hollow. The sound would get muddy when you turn it up. I added some polyfil (essentially, pillow stuffing) to the enclosure and it made a great improvement to the sound. I wish it had a tone control for treble adjustment (needs more).I will be picking up a 300 model for my vehicle since it is the same as the 500, but without the talkback (I did not need that).All in all it does the job with great build quality, for a good price.

Major sound quality difference over the factory speaker. Outstanding product for the $.

First off you should know that this speaker is a good size. If you are looking for a little external speaker to make it easier to hear this is not the one. I have a Jeep Wrangler that never has the top on and usually not the doors. So when driving down the highway the stock CB speaker was useless. So I bought a little external speaker from Radio Shack that fit in the cup holder (told you it was little) this work fine for off roading and slow speeds but on the highway almost had to hold it to my ear to hear. Still needed an upgrade. Bought the Cobra HG S300. Like I said before it's bigger than you think. So hooked it up to see how loud it was, and it was plenty loud sitting on the E-Brake handle but not very stable or practical. Wound up mounting it to the roll bar between the front seats. And in that position I have NO problem hearing the radio at ANY speed. Usually have to turn the volume on the CB down a bit because it's too loud. The Noise Canceling is useless as it attenuates the volume, might be OK in a closed cab but useless to me.And it looks nothing like the picture.If you want a loud speaker so you can hear the CB this is the one you want. If your looking for just a little increase in volume or don't have alot of room this is not the one you want.

The bad reviews must be from people that don't read the description. Cobra and Uniden radios!They have both Ext. speaker and P.A. jacks, that's how they work, red wire to the P.A. jack.Simple, works awesome on these radios.

Purchased the above speaker for pluggging into my CRT SS-9900 transceiver, and boy it was such an improvement!One of the best extention speakers i've ever used, plenty head room for output sound. With the 9900 the speaker volume is not the best, a very decent price for a quality sound.

Great quality and sounds good

Great product, I have one for each of my ham radios. The sound quality is far better than the small speakers in the radio and these things look good too. Not much benefit to the noise cancelling for me as I don't have to deal with ignition noise etc in the shack.
