How many repetitions are you supposed to do?

I don’t know. I started using this tool when my therapist pulled it out of her bag of tricks for my therapy session for two torn rotator cuffs. Asked where to buy this device and immediately ordered one from Amazon. I do 10 repetitions using 3 different angles 3 times. Easy to use recommended it highly. Not to say this is the reason but I am now able to use both my arms in a very natural way.

How can I prevent the arm rests from irritating my arms so much?

It may be that your arms are smaller than most. place a padded facecloth at inner elbows.
