Nice kit. Ideal for first time users who want to try out a straight razor.
This straight razor isn't quite like the traditional old style straight razor that you see in old movies where it has a permanent blade that you sharpen and clean with the leather strap, but I consider this to be a great option for beginners like myself who want to learn how to use a straight razor without having to worry about seriously injuring myself due to inexperience. This razor uses replaceable derby blades that are kind of like single edged safety razor blades. They're very inexpensive and should be replaced after every shave. You get a box of 100 with this kit so I consider it to be a very good value. The pictures of my face that I posted are after my very first use with this razor. I've had no prior instruction nor did I watch any videos. It's kind of common sense which direction and angle to hold the blade. The handle itself seems well made and I like the bronze finish. This whole kit is definitely a bargain. If this is you first time using a straight razor like this, here's a few tips:1) Wet your face with a hot towel or take a shower first to open up your pores and make the cut easier. Then use lotion or shaving cream.2) GO SLOW3) Take off small sections at a time. Don't rush.4) Rinse the blade frequently5) Discard the blade immediately after use and use new blade for every shave. For the price and the quality of this kit I am very satisfied. This is a great gift for someone else or for yourself if you want to get started on using a straight razor.

Great Buy & Super Sharp
The blades are incredibly sharp. I started with an inexpensive solid blade then changed to this. I thought the other was sharp until I tried this set. The blades are incredibly sharp and durable. It shaves my very coarse beard with ease. They also cut skin effortlessly, so be careful. This is a great way to get into the art of straight razor shaves.

Solid Straight Razor with Plenty of Blades – Just a Few Things to Note
I picked this up as an affordable straight razor for shaping up my beard, and overall, it’s a solid choice for the price. The razor itself has a nice weight to it, and the black finish gives it a sleek look. The fact that it comes with 100 Derby blades is a huge plusdefinitely a good deal considering you won’t need to buy refills for a long time.A couple of things to keep in mind: The blade holder mechanism works, but you have to make sure it's properly secured to avoid any shifting while shaving. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to double-check before using it. Also, the handle is comfortable, but the screw that holds the two parts together can feel a little loose over time, you might need to tighten it occasionally. For someone new to straight razors, there’s a slight learning curve, but once you get used to the angle and pressure, it does the job well. Just take your time, and make sure to stretch your skin properly to avoid any nicks. For the price, this is a great value, especially with the extra blades. It’s not a high-end razor, but if you want something affordable and functional, it’s a solid pick. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to try a straight razor without spending too much.

Not bad for the price.
I've been using a straight-edge razor for a little over a year now using a typical "old fashioned" blade and decided to give this a shot for a variety of reasons. The price: You get what you pay for. I paid $9.99 for this razor and 100 derby blades. The razor itself, or razor caddy to be more specific, is decent. It's stainless steel and of good construction. The blade is held firmly in place just as it should be. The problem is that the two dots for alignment inside the enclosure are slightly off so the edge of the blade is at a different angle than the edge of the caddy, they should be parallel and they're not. This seems like a minor problem, but when you're working with something that is barely extending beyond the edge of the caddy, you have to use the caddy for alignment on your face either by sight or touch - but this creates a perception problem and if you're not extra careful you'll end up slicing your face/neck instead of shaving it. If the alignment were better, this would be a superb product. Perhaps mine is just faulty? Your mileage may vary.Speaking of slicing your neck, this brings me to the Derby blades that came with it. My first shave with it went well - just as I'm accustomed to with my prior razor. It took a few strokes before I realized the alignment problem, but once that was figured out I was able to adjust. My second shave was a decidedly different story. If you've never used a single, ultra-sharp blade before, then you may not realize that when something is THIS sharp you don't feel pain right away when you cut yourself. That was what happened with the second shave - my neck was sliced in many places. Once the blood started flowing from multiple cuts, I stopped and inspected what was going on. The blade had a nick in it. Because the first didn't, I assumed this was a fluke. I took the blade out and put a new one in, only to realize this 3rd blade was nicked also. I then opened up 10 more of the individually wrapped blades and 7 of them had flaws that would cause this problem. Out of the 13 total blades that I have opened so far, 9 of them were unusable for shaving. The box containing the blades was slightly askew when I received it, and was definitely damaged during shipping but the blades looked fine until I inspected them specifically looking for imperfections in the blade edge. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that this is not their quality control but was instead a shipping issue, but I recommend you be very careful if you do order this product. They're delicate.Doing further research it seems Derby blades are far from ideal. Their thinness accounts for how easily they're damaged and become unusable. Even the undamaged blades only gave a really good shave for 3/4's of my face/neck before dulling. I am able to complete a full shave, but it's less smooth near the end due to the rapid dulling of the blade. Some people report getting a second shave from each one, maybe I was just spoiled with how long my standard straight-edge was able to hold a shave-ready edge.Short version: Quality of the blades is lacking, find different blades to use with the caddy. Quick research will show you the best alternatives. The razor/caddy is good, but would be great if it held the blade parallel for easier use.

Worth it, but be careful!
Always wanted to try this, and its awesome. Careful using it the first few times because you might cut yourself.. But if it happens its okay, it comes with the territory. Make sure you change blades often since it becomes dull after a few uses.
