I bought this for a large playpen for my dwarf hamster. She does not drink much water, not even in her house..I guess she is getting her fluids from the corn & peas I give her everyday, so other than her initially drinking out of it, I cannot give a in-depth review on that part. She loves the little dish attached and fills her cheeks with whatever treat I put in it. It does not drip or fall over. It looks cute in her playpen. It is not big enough for Guinea Pig or Syrian hamster..though if used part time, not as main source of water it may work for Syrian hamster. I have no idea what the little wire it came with is for. I think this is good for dwarf hamsters and would recommend.

My daughetr is not one to check the cage everyday so thankfully this bottle holds water for weeks. Again, amazon has sold me yet another amazing item for a fraction of the price I would have paid for the gas and time traveling to stores trying to find the right hamster water and feeder, Love Amazon Prime !!

My gerbil likes to chew through absolutely everything, so that has no effect on why I'm writing this review. I liked that the bottle is small because I only have one gerbil now since his brother died. However, it LEAKS. I don't mean just a little, I mean I fill it up in the morning and after 2 hours the whole thing is empty. I thought the first time it was because he knocked it over, but when he got out and I had to set it up on a towel hoping he'd come out from where he was hiding, the entire thing leaked onto the towel without even being touched. It's a great size, and I think mine may be defective, but just take that into consideration before buying this product, I probably won't be buying it again :(

DO NOT GET FOR FULL SIZED HAMSTERS! This water bottle isn't big enough for the larger breeds of hamsters. My baby has to bend and rotate her head to drink from this bottle. Also, if you use pine bedding the water drips out all day and saturates the surrounding bedding and you end up with mold. Don't waste your money. I'll never buy this product again. It socks because my hammie lives in a glass aquarium with no way to hang a bottle.
