Great pen
I really like this pen. The red color has a subtle metallic sparkle that I wasn't expecting from the picture, which is really nice. It writes beautifully, especially for the price, but the best part is the improved cap seal. I love my Metropolitan (same nib) but the ink in the converter/cartridge likes to evaporate and the nib dries out if I don't write with it regularly. This pen doesn't have that problem. The pen is light, but doesn't feel cheap, and the push cap has a similar satisfying feel to the Prera. As far as I know this pen is the same as the Explorer that is normally sold in the US, but has the better cap, so if you are considering the Explorer, get the Lightive instead. Also I've tried buying a couple other pens off Amazon and this is the first one that I didn't have to send back for a bad writing nib.

Very nice entry level pen, bonus pen included
I was looking for an entry level (i.e. not too expensive) fountain pen that would let me use prefilled ink cartridges to start but would be to move to converters and bottled ink later on if I wished. The Pilot Lightive fits the bill perfectly. It is a nice size, fits my hand better than the Metropolitan (the Metro is shorter and has a smaller grip), and allows for the larger CON-70 converter to be used. From online reviews the cap seals better than the similar Pilot Explorer, so that the ink will not dry out in the pen; in practice I have had no issue with the ink drying out in the pen. The writing with the Pilot Fine nib is not silky smooth, but is acceptable and I expect it to get a bit better over time as i wear the nib in a bit.The Lightive did not include the advertised Kanji sticker - but it did include a nice ballpoint pen with a Kanji "Love" symbol on it (see attached photo). I see no indication it is a Pilot pen (generic ink inside) but I like it. Thanks!

Good pen for the price, definitely
My expectations were in the "we'll see" category when I ordered it, for the price point. I've used fountain pens running from cheap, garbage nib disposables to very expensive, so I didn't expect the quality of a Montblanc; but, I was very pleasantly surprised. Very surprised indeed. Very good ink flow, very light writing, much smoother than I anticipated. For the price, I think it's a great buy, very usable!

better seal than kakuno
Bought it for the seal, and it delivers. Kakuno dries up too fast. This pen keeps the ink nice and wet. I have pigment ink in it, and no hard start. Pilot smooth nib. Just a joy. Oh and the red has a sheen to it in the light. Very festive color.

I LOVE this pen
I shouldn't be surprised, it's a pilot. I've loved Pilot forever. This writes smooth, doesn't clog. I liked it so much I purchased a second one to keep at home
