The Reading Strategies Book 2.0: Your Research-Based Guide to Developing Skilled Readers 1st Edition

I used this book for a reading pedagogy class. I highly recommend it to any elementary educator! It is up to date, giving strategies that work with the science of reading. I don’t care to keep a lot of textbooks, but this one will stay in my personal library so I can reference it.

This book is great for teachers that need ideas for small group reading strategies. It can be used for individual students as well. I would highly recommend this book as it also lists the appropriate reading levels.

I love the updates on her new book. I used her 1.0 version religiously over the past few years, so it's nice to see some of the new strategies that she put into place. I especially like the strategies for older and advanced learners.

I had the original version of this book and use it often, so was not sure I needed 2.0. I was wrong. 2.0 is an amazing update- so much research referenced and new thinking added. This is a book with lots of embedded PD, while still being very accessible to teachers. The format and illustrations are captivating and the lessons I have already tried out from the book have been so helpful. You need this book!

The book I received did not match the image for the spiral bound book that is posted with the product on Amazon. This is purely a review on aesthetics. The spiral is neon orange and GIANT as opposed to the presented image of a smaller green spiral matching the cover of the book. Bright orange is not my vibe and since it was not advertised this way, I will be sending it back.

Good information

I’ll be using this as a reading comprehension homeschooling curriculum with our own books. She even lists the kinds of books that go best with the reading strategies. Simply awesome!
