Q: Can this cut a gallon jug?

Absolutely NOT!! I set mine up on the kitchen counter. Since nothing is included for hanging the water dripper, I hung mine from the cabinet door. One problem solved. I set up my bottle, got the blade into place, and turned on the cutter. The blade promptly fell. THERE IS NOTHING TO LOCK THE BLADE IN PLACE!! This is a vertical cutter. It needs something to lock the blade in place to keep it from sliding down the pole. I returned one unit for a replacement. On the second one, I was in the hospital. By the time I tested it I had missed the return deadline BY ONE DAY! I noticed the price is now $69. I paid $140. When the blade falls it knocks off the bottle. The last time it happened it cut me pretty bad. Everything - cutter, broken glass, and all - went in the trash.
