## Overview

The JTAG-HS2 Programming Cable by Digilent is a compact, high-speed programming solution designed for Xilinx FPGAs. It features a versatile voltage reference, USB2 connectivity, and compliance with industry standards, making it an essential tool for engineers seeking efficiency and reliability in their programming tasks.

## Description

The joint test action group (JTAG) HS2 programming cable is a high-speed programming solution for Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The cable is fully compatible will all Xilinx tools and can be seamlessly driven from iMPACTTM, ChipScopeTM, and EDK. The HS2 attaches to target boards using Digilent's 6-pin, 100-mil spaced programming header or Xilinx's 2x7, 2mm connector and the included adaptor. The PC powers the JTAG-HS2 through the USB port and will recognize it as a Digilent programming cable when connected to a PC, even if the cable is not attached to the target board. The HS2 has a separate Vdd pin to supply the JTAG signal buffers. The high-speed 24mA three-state buffers allow target boards to drive the HS2 with signal voltages from 1.8V to 5V and bus speeds of up to 30MBit/sec. To function correctly, the HS2's Vdd pin must be tied to the same voltage supply that drives the JTAG port on the FPGA. The JTAG bus can be shared with other devices as systems hold JTAG signals at high-impedance except when actively driven during programming. The HS2 comes included with a standard Type-A to Micro-USB cable that attaches to the end of the module opposite the system board connector. The system board connector should hold the small and light HS2 firmly in place. Note: This cable is not needed for Digilent FPGA boards as our boards are designed with this functionality natively.

Review: Great JTAG for Xilinx FPGAs - I have used these in lieu of the Xilinx Platform Cable USB II and have had no problems with Vivado using Artix7 or Zynq FPGAs, including Opal Kelly boards for the Artix7. The included adapter is nice, since most non-diligent development boards will only come with the "standard" 2.0mm Xilinx debug header. It is far cheaper and smaller than the Xilinx cable while offering the same performance for the vast majority of applications, and I really like that it uses any provided micro-usb cable.
Review: Works fine, good value - Works fine, and is cheaper than the Xilinx part. I did have some problems with it in Linux, but I'm not sure whether that's a hardware or software problem. In any case, the Digilent cable is great.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works fine, good value
*by P***S on 5 August 2014*

Works fine, and is cheaper than the Xilinx part. I did have some problems with it in Linux, but I'm not sure whether that's a hardware or software problem. In any case, the Digilent cable is great.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Xilinx Jtag programmer
*by E***I on 11 February 2014*

Works as advertised both with Xilinx impact, chipscope and our custom drivers using digilents API. Note their API software worked with 14.4 and RHEL 6.3 but we had some lib conflicts with 14.6.
