Essential for spending tracking and reviewing
Is this book in its paper format 100% necessary? That depends. Do you prefer to write everything down or are you happy to put it in a tabbed Excel?I’m a great believer in writing things down and this kakebo book is perfect for that. It has four spending categories and plenty of space each week. Each month begins with you noting income, outgoings, savings and disposable income. At the end of each month you tally up what you spent across each area and then you reflect. At the end of the book there is a yearly review and a questionnaire which asks how well you feel you did. It’s nearly December and I have tracked my spending to the nearest penny for 11 months now. Next year I aim to use this year’s kakebo to help me further reduce my unneeded spending, because if there is one thing this book will highlight it is exactly that!

Great for saving money
Bought this book to save money each month and it was brilliant. It made me see what I was spending each day and I then thought twice before buying random items. At the end of the first month i'd saved the exact amount I wanted too. Its now month two so i'm looking forward to continuing the entries each day. I keep all receipts each day and enter them in the book each evening. Great little book.

... can do running total/amount against your 'allownace' but overall good.
I always use excel spreadsheet but was often too lazy to go on my computerso i brought this and I am sure it will be easier the only thing I wished it had was a section each month where you work out how much you need to put aside for food/petrol etcalso somewhere each week where you can do running total/amount against your 'allownace'but overall good.

A kakeibo journal in English...
I thought this was a “how to” book and was pleasantly surprised to discover it was an actual kakeibo journal too! The first few pages have instructions on what to do and how it works and the test of the book is an actual kakeibo. In English! I hadn’t managed to find an actual english version so I’m really looking forward to using it. It’s pleasingly chunky but the size is such that you could carry it around in your bag with you. I think it’s A5 or a little smaller

Three Stars
Not what i was expecting and manly a diary, rather than a book describing the process.

.
I like the way you HAVE to note all yr outgoings and can put them into catagories of spending, within the first month I am admitting to myself where I spend and it makes you look at reasons why and how you can improve and reduce spending

Kick start
Been thinking of getting this for a while, should have got it sooner, more of a journal than a book so not a lot to read but a good go to.

Goed inzicht in je uitgaven
Eerder heb ik mijn uitgaven al eens bijgehouden in een Excel-lijst, kasboek en notitieboek, maar dit is net even iets leuker. Zeker als je ook wilt besparen.

This system works
I can't count the number of times I've attempted to "keep" to a budget. This one gives you no excuses for failing to do so. You track daily, weekly and monthly progress, while noting your "triggers" and unnecessary indulgences. The result is an easy way to save money! It's also a very lovely book.
