pretty good print quality. I know it's a free book but nothing beats having a copy in your hand.

If you are new to infrastructure engineering this book will inform you as to an approach and model to use as you start down this road. If you are an experienced engineer then you will see a lot of truth in what is written here. It may change you viewpoint or solidify an existing one, whatever the case this book is an essential reference and an honest account with a huge amount of wisdom.

Both of the books in the series are a must read for anyone working in Infrastructure (Inc networks).This is the direction that infrastructure teams should be heading in terms of skill levels too.

Excellent trove of knowledge, condensing over a decade of Google's "let's try this... hmm... okay, how about like this... whoops, okay, new plan... well that seems to do it" learning into one fat tome. Essential for anyone concerned with more than a couple of racks of hardware.

Good book with some examples about how Google engineers are running their huge infrastructure. It offers some guidelines and suggestions from people/team management to automation and good software engineering practices.

It's hard to tell who this book is aimed at.If you are a non-technical manager, a lot of the content is probably too technical.If you are a fairly technical operations/support person, you'll likely come away from it thinking "yeah that's all well and good but how am I supposed to get my entire organisation into this way of thinking?"The book tells a nice story but offers little practical advice for anyone embarking on a SRE or DevOps journey, or for anyone looking to bring it into their organisation.

I think everyone in ops/engineering should read this - it's not covering highly technical details, more a guide on how to approach certain problem spaces and what Google did to overcome them.

The book discusses issues related to reliability and some solutions used by Google. Because it's so Google, not all solutions are applicable to SMB or even large applications on other industries. But it's inspirational!

The book and paper quality is amazing

I was amazed by the depth of this book, and the way it covers several aspects of what it takes to operate a complex and distributed software system. I was particularly impressed with the details of some chapters related to monitoring, load balancing (at the front end and back end), designing applications to manage overload conditions, and being on call.I think the book has a lot to teach and inspire. Some of the approaches described are very counterintuitive like the error budget, and the blameless postmortem culture. One of the shortcomings I noticed was that some chapters are hard to read because they treat rather advanced topics. The fact that the book has very few illustrations makes it hard to understand some of the concepts at times. Overall, an invaluable resource.

Book arrived in great condition. Good book and easy to read. I'm not a big reader and had to do this book in multiple stages, but it was well worth reading it. Lots of real life applications.
