Excellent handheld emulator
This is a fantastic little piece of kit that emulates 3D systems much better than most of the ‘game box’ type TV only android boxes. And it has a mini HDMI port so you can also play it on a monitor.2D emulation is a breeze - arcade, Neo Geo, SNES, Megadrive etc all work a treat.3D emulation is much better than expected - not flawless by any means but a whole lot better than the android boxes of type above - especially for Dreamcast and Nintendo 64.Imagine being able to play Zombie Revenge, Blue Stinger (couple of graphical glitches) and Crazy Taxi (with the original soundtrack) from Dreamcast really well? You can with this.It even plays Conker’s Bad Fur Day on the N64 quite well (cut scene frames can drop a little but gameplay is really good). It uses RetroArch so there also plenty of options to improve things further if required and there are multiple emulators for most systems to swap which one runs a game better if needed (mainly left at auto seems to work fine). The buttons (including shoulders) are nice and responsive, the d pad is ok (perfectly fine just not Evercade good) and the analogue sticks are pretty good too.Overall I would say it was worth the price - especially for the competent handling of Dreamcast especially.

Okay but nothing more
Difficult to give this more than 2 stars but in some ways that's possibly an unfair score. This was my first foray into retro gaming and I like the nostalgia. The device itself is lovely. Thoughts below. If the issues are all because I don't know what I'm doing then I'll update at some point.Positives+ The 'ready & setup' aspect of the product is great and a definite selling point.+ Feels good and is clearly well made. Probably the best shape for a handheld I've seen.+ Pre-installed games makes a newbies life easier.+ save function. I love being able to save progress on old games that didn't used to have save options.Negatives- many of the pre-installed games are the Japanese roms, which is fine(ish) for the likes of streetfighter if you can figure out which button is start, but utterly useless for rpgs and other games with plots or dialogue.- a significant portion of games simply don't boot. (Probably need to get replacement ROMs as I guess the ones pre-installed are corrupted or something but ultra noob has no idea).- a newbie (like myself) has no idea how to improve settings to to get choppy games to run smoothly.- no WiFi or touchscreen means changes need side loading.

Younger person loves this
It is well build I will say this, it arrives well protected and the whole thing feels quite solid.Start up and you get a list a of games, it is a very long list and you can search for the game you want, so long you know what it is a called, the search function really helps. There are so many games, such a variety and a load of games I have not even heard of.The controls are all there, although each set of controls used will depend on the game played, and will mean each new game will take a little time figuring out controls.Controls also are not always well setup, so you may find a game where the required button either is not assigned or assigned to a spot that is just unusable. The display is pretty decent and very clear and crisp, we have no issue at all seeing what is going on.The control system I found can be the real hurdle for my son to enjoy this, although he seems to have either worked out how to make it work or just selects that games that work for him.You can evidently add your own roms, I have not worked out how and with so many games I am not in any rush. But accepting the limitations of a ported game, for a different game system working on this, I think it is a good option. The menu system can be quite confusing though and the more you need to change something or the deeper in the menu you go the more confusing it seems to get

Why?
Why advertise a grey, retro coloured handheld when you're just going to send any colour you have at hand? I ordered the grey version because that's what was advertised and that's the one I wanted...what was sent? Purple!Everything seems to be working as expected, no bum roms yet, but it isn't what I ordered. First impressions...not good!£120 for 'get what you' re given' leaves a very sour taste in your mouth!
