Life Done Differently: One Woman's Journey on the Road Less Travelled

A refreshingly, honest book
Having taken a different path myself, I felt at times that I could have written this book myself!Lisa charts the realities of vanlife and is refreshingly honest about the highs, the lows, her decision making processes around deciding to become a full time van-lifer, working as a nomad, travelling solo as an introvert and following a different path to that of her peers - by choosing not to follow the societal norms of settling down, getting married, having kids etc.As a married, mum of two, it was the first time a book has opened my eyes to different personality types - extroverts and introverts. I understood the difference but didn't appreciate the nuances and how both can be advantageous. Not only that, but how I can be a better friend to my friends who have made the decision to remain childfree. Something I'd never considered. And finally, having camped around New Zealand, it was so lovely to revisit places around the North and South islands through Lisa's eyes. It brought back so many happy memories and has made me realise there is so much we missed!

Attention grabber
As a relatively new owner of a Campervan myself I found lots to connect with this book. I don't live in mine, but so love to explore as a single lady, spending weeks at a time away from home. I have visited New Zealand's South Island some 10 years ago and visited some of the places mentioned and thoroughly loved it! Some of the spots are just spectacular. I found the read very honest and thought provoking in a very real life way and admire Lisa's honesty in her jorney. Beautiful read ....didn't want it to end! Live well

An inspiring and honest read
I loved this book so much I read it not once but twice. Although our lives have been very different I could relate to so much of Lisa’s story and she felt like a kindred spirit. I loved her honesty and vulnerability as well as learning all about can life and travelling around New Zealand - 2 things I have no experience of.Overall I found this book to be well written and interesting and a real page turner. I’d highly recommend! I’m now hoping to one day travel around NZ in a van myself, and feel inspired to continue questioning my life choices and what it is I truly want from life.

Fantastic to read. Poor quality print, copy (by amazon)
Fantastic book to read but the quality of book let it down, not great, looked like amazon photocopied the original book including poor quality print cover. States on last page "printed in Great Britain by Amazon" Not the quality I expected for the price. Lisa Jansen needs to get a publisher that shows her work better.

Very enjoyable read
Although I am living “a life done not very differently” I really enjoyed this book. Lisa’s honesty and bravery in her life decisions are beautifully described throughout the book and I found myself feeling joy with her at the good times and feeling sad with her at the challenges. Her vivid descriptions of beautiful New Zealand just make me want to get on a (very) long flight back and see all the places we missed on our (short) camper van adventure 12 years ago - best holiday ever. Can’t wait to find out what Lisa does next.

Started off well but deteriorated.
It started off well but was very repetitive at times - kept on and on about childless from choice and there seemed to be pages about being single and childless from choice. I gave up about two thirds of the way through the book.

Interesting and Useful Read
Thanks for a helpful book . I've lived a semi-alternatively lifestyle for years on and off and we've now moved to Port Waikato.I've restarted my blog and we've just purchased a campervan.I found your story very similar to mine in not following a totally conventional path and it's interesting to see you facing questions and reasoning through. This book also helped me think about amazing places we could visit in a campervan and safety issues when I'm on my own. Less unsafe than I would have thought.I recommend for anyone wanting to try something different or even if you want to just go camping. Thanks:)

Interesting viewpoints
A woman's interesting viewpoints on our traditional patterns of "living-chain" (job, marriage, children, house, dissolution ;) and pension). Easy to read even for non-natives. Enjoyable reading, I like it very much!

Awesome book - covering van life, happiness and the beautiful New Zealand
This is a great book. It is authentic. The author writes about her adventures as a solo traveller with a camper van. It also tells the inner journey and the quest for being who you are and do what makes you happy. It is fun, entertaining and easy to read , despite igniting your own desires

A life less traveled
This book is an easy read.It takes you through a journey of Neuseeland as well as the realization that life does not need to be all about work, material things, and family.

An interesting and inspiring book about a unique life experience in NZ
I really loved this book. It's an incredibly interesting topic and the writer goes way beyond anything I've ever read about van life. She shared the whole experience, rather than only the extremes I've heard about in the past (freedom and beautiful views OR cold nights and no toilet). The fact that it was all tied to her self-discovery was very well done. The chapter names/topics and the message at the end of the book were fantastic. I feel like I really got to know the writer as a person and appreciated her sharing her innermost thoughts, without ever judging or preaching to the reader.Other highlights for me were learning about New Zealand and more unexpected things, like publishing a book, van life during the pandemic, and kiwi bird conservation. All in all, an inspiring read!
