My first electric ZTR mower.
I’ve received, unpacked and and assembled a new EGO 42” riding mower. I have to say now, after a few hours use, it has exceeded my expectations!First, it was delivered on a steel, roll-off pallet huddled in a steel frame with mower covered with visqueen plastic sheeting. Very impressive. The frame was easily disassembled using only a ½ (13mm) socket and an electric impact driver. Works easiest with a second person with ½” box end wrench to hold the other end of the bolts,Remove a couple of hold down straps over the rear wheels (One ½” bold on each side). Remove pair of wheel chocks on the front wheels, release the parking brake and an easy roll off onto the ground.Assembly is also a breeze. Tools are included. Just mount and align the steering bars and install the seat. Remove the batteries from the cardboard boxes and drop the batteries into the mower. Now that you’ve accomplished all this, open and read the instructions, They are well written with very good illustrations. There are a lot of pages and it will take a while to go through all of the materials. You can do all of this while the batteries are charging.I am replacing my old (10 Y.O.) Toro 42” time cutter. (15 gallons of gasoline per season). Now after one hour of operating this new EGO, I am amazed how easy it was for me to transition from the Toro. It is a short learning curve to understand the switch functions and LED display.Cutting the grass is as good, if not better than the Toro. Blade speed is adjustable and at the lower setting it still cuts well enough and the machine is whisper quiet, I have about ¾ acre to mow and it did it easily with the 4 supplied batteries. Air temperature in the low 70’s.Now for my complaint: The mower deck height adjustment works fine but the cut depth indicator numbers are in a place that is hard to see. I can’t see the numbers while I am seated. It’s an easy fix for the factory.Again, a very well engineered machine with an excellent instruction set. I’m happy.

Very satisfied
So far, I’m very happy with the mower. There was some minor assembly required, but it was easy and quick. I’ve cut my grass with a couple times now and it has been a major upgrade in mow quality from my old riding mower. It’s very easy to use and to set up, not to mention that it has quite a bit zip to it. Battery life easily covered our half acre yard. It’s silent when the blades aren’t engaged and sounds like a large industrial fan when they are, significantly quicker than any mower I’ve used before.

Blade motor can shut down
I have one acre, 3/4 of it is mowed. It's a bit rough, not a flat surface. The grass is a bit thick and wet in the spring. My 22hp Husqvarna cuts through all this well. I just switched to electric because my tractor has other issues and after watching all the you tube videos, I decided to go electric, and specifically this model. I received it on good order, took about an hour to unpack and a couple hours to charge. I mowed my front lawn using the mulching plug. It looked great. The battery dropped by about 10%. The back yard is the big area. I set the height about 3 notches from the top. It mowed very well. When done I was down to 49%. My 2nd mow a week later, I lowered the deck further down, still with the plug. The blades shut off on my 3 times. I had to turn off the mower and restart to reset the tripping mechanism. I ended up raising the deck up a couple notches and it was fine. While I got a good mow, I didn't like the fact the blade motors shut off. Bog down? Perhaps, but not shut off. They are brushless motors so you won't get burn marks on the armature. I think too much grass clippings are bulked up with no chance of escape so it bogs down the motor enough to shut it off. I never saw this happen not was it discussed in any video. When I was done mowing, my battery was down to 29%. Cleaning underneath used a garden hose adapter. I've never cared for this method and prefer to remove the deck. While this one is easier than my Husqvarna, it's harder than it needs to be. John Deere got it right. So I'm kinda on the fence with being satisfied. It's quiet and steers great. No gas.. if it didn't shut off on me I may have given it a 5 star rating.

Efficient, quiet and fun.
I have several EGo tools and have been favorably pleased.I needed a riding mower for a two acre pasture like parcel. I had a tractor style JD mower that was dying.I didn't think I would need the Zero turn mower but I have found it to be substantially more enjoyable and efficient especially with the steering wheel feature.Four batteries is enough to do the two acres but it will hold six. Charges fairly quickly and easy.Easy and kind of fun to use. I am enjoying the quiet and efficiency without having to put gas in it.
