Did not work with my android phone
My initial reason for getting this CAC reader was to use it on my phone and access work related websites. Unfortunately it did not work on my phone. I used Google Chrome, Samsung internet, and Subrosa and none of these browsers recognized the certificates from my CAC. On a positive note, the CAC reader worked great on my Samsung Galaxy Book (laptop) running Windows 11. It was as simple as plugging it in to my laptop, inserting my CAC and logging in to the website. Even though it didn't work on my phone I still gave it 5 stars because the reader worked just fine without any problems on my laptop. Which leads me to believe it's a problem with my phone. This reader is compact and easy to travel with. I recommend this product for anyone needing a CAC reader.

Works for Federal Government Smartcards - beware driver installation!
So, I work for a Federal agency and I work remotely. I have a government issued/owned laptop with a card reader that I use. However, there have been times I needed to access the VPN using my personal laptop. This card reader will allow me to do so. However, it took me a bit of trial and error to get it to work.1. Plug in the Smartcard Reader into your USB-C port.2. Go to Settings - Windows Update. Run the Check for Updates. The driver may pop up for installation there. If it doesn't, go to Advanced options on the main Windows Update page), then to Optional updates. There should be an Alcor smartcard reader driver. Install it.3. You MAY get a popup saying your Windows security did not allow the installation. If that happens, then go to Settings - Privacy & Security - Windows Security - Device security. Another Window will popup. Click Core isolation details and turn OFF Memory integrity.4. Restart your computer. The driver should be installed and your card will be detected/read by the reader and you can see your card details in ActivClient (or whatever you use). You will need to leave this setting turned off even though Windows Security won't like it.After this, the smartcard reader should work just fine. What I do like about this reader is the USB-C connection. I have more USB-C ports on my laptop than I have regular USB. My old government issued reader uses USB. It was also flimsy and didn't always read my smartcard. This one, while still foldable and compact, is sturdier. So, despite having to dig around in my settings, I do recommend this reader as it will work with Federal government agency smartcards.

Overheated CAC Chip
CAC reader worked well, but eventually melted the internal chip on my common access card. The reader would generate tremendous heat while in use, and sustained use damaged the internal chip of the CAC (had to get a new CAC to gain access to work spaces and accounts). Not knowing if I had received a fluke, I would recommend returning the reader if it generates any heat upon initial use (within the returns-window). My previous readers did not generate any heat.

Doesn't work well with VMWare application
It seems like this reader continually loses connection with VMWare application when viewing a remote desktop. It works well enough for most other uses, but not the one I really wanted (aka VMWare).

Works as advertised
This Mini CAC Reader is working exactly as advertised. There are a number of GitHub repos that can use this card reader and I have had no problems at all using this card reader to read different cards. I have mainly been using this card reader with a laptop and the size of the card reader makes it easy to toss in your bag if you need to be mobile. Overall, I am very happy with this card reader, it's portability, ability to read cards and low price.

Reads many types of card's.
I tried it on my phone, and my laptop. It worked on both devices. I didn't have any problems hooking it up. If you need something quick that work so okay and doesn't have any issues. This is all you need. I used several different cards and they all worked without a problem. Obviously it's not the most expensive card reader out there but it does the job.

Does the job
It's a card reader. Can confirm it reads cards as advertised. It's not as compact as some other options but plenty portable enough to toss in a work bag without issue. Not a whole lot to say. If you need a smart card reader that's portable and type-c, this'll do it.

Always nice to have a second CAC reader
I like this is USB C and that the cable length allows for it to be out of the way without blocking other ports when being used.I didn't like how hard it was to open, seems like it's catching on something but eventually does open up. I was afraid of breaking it the 1st time but it's what it is now.
