The reason that I chose this filter is that it has the NSF P473 certification, which means that it removes perfluoroalkyl substances or PFAS. Reuter’s reported in Jan 2020 that these industrial chemicals are present at very high levels in the drinking water in my area. This certification on filters is not common enough, so I am glad to have found this brand. I feel better knowing that, at least at home, we are drinking and cooking with water that has had these chemicals removed.

This is one of the few filters that claims to remove PFAs. Fits well with my fridge. At times though (usually after a period of not using the fridge) the water has a chemical smell and the taste numbs the tip of my tongue for a while. I have tried at least 3 different units and they all have the same issue but to varying degrees.Reached out to the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement which is one of the 3 I've tried. i asked and they did not provide an explanation for the taste or smell.Not sure if the filter really removes PFAs, but definitely adds something to the water that may not be a good thing. I really wanted this to work.

This is one of the only filters here on Amazon that specifically calls out both NSF 42 AND 53 just like the original Samsung filter in my refrigerator. The original Samsung has double o-rings on the outside neck compared to the single on this unit, but otherwise this one seems to work just fine for significantly less. On first installation, I didn't even get a reduction in flow so I'm impressed. if it wasn't for the double o-ring difference, I would give this a perfect 5 stars. Purchasing direct from the manufacturer will net you a discount on multiple orders as well.

This is the second time I use an Instapure filter on my refrigerator. Both times the refrigerator has had a slow drip at the dispenser after the filter is installed. This will go on for a few days, requiring a paper towel in the dispenser shelf. After a while it fixes itself. I don't know what a filter has to do with the water dispenser shutoff valve, but obviously there's an effect. I have not had that problem with Samsung filters, but I was hoping for a reasonably priced, US made alternative.

I had high hopes for this product but I was sadly disappointed. I got this filter for my Samsung fridge about two months ago. It was great at first, the water tasted great and me and family were very happy with it. However for the past two weeks the filter does not seem to be working and the water tastes horrible. At this point I’m just going to buy Samsung brand.

Product fit fine. There were no leaks and it was easy to install.

We tried to save a little and buy this so called filter. Water had the distinct faucet taste. Soon after went to Best Buy and bought an authentic Samsung. Which we will always do in the future!
