Columbia Men's Redmond Waterproof Hiking Shoe

I've walked – outdoors – about 2 miles a day for the past 20 years, some on trails, but in recent years, more often on concrete and asphalt pavement. Over the decades, I've purchased and worn (and worn out) half a dozen different brands of "trail" and "walking" shoes, some waterproof, some not, a pair designed for "stability," and the rest not. These shoes from Columbia are easily the best walking shoes I've ever worn – I'm now on my 3rd pair. My feet are slightly narrow ("C" width – which few manufacturers make), but even in a "D" width, the fit is quite good. I've had no issues with their being waterproof, and stomp through puddles without a second thought. Durability has been excellent, with 800-900 miles (about 15 months) before a pair has worn out. I wear them pretty much all day, every day, and traction on rock, trails and pavement (wet or dry) is excellent. I don't walk indoors (i.e., mall-walking) with any frequency, so I don't have an opinion about the shoe's traction on a smooth mall floor. They're very good in snow, not very good on ice, but I've never had a pair of shoes that was any good on ice unless I was wearing crampons. One reviewer didn't like the rounded heel, but for me – I'm 73, but don't have any "stability" issues – the rounded heel is precisely why the shoes are so comfortable.The rounded heel allows my foot strike to be totally natural – there's no squared-off heel forcing my foot into a particular angle or direction – and my foot then naturally rolls to its natural position as I continue the step and push off. The result is a very comfortable and natural gait, with none of the "slapping" I've seen some old guys like me have when the ball of their foot comes down on the walking surface. I rarely dress formally in retirement, so don't mind the "outdoors-y" look of the shoe, and I've purchased and worn them in both black and brown. They've been equally durable and comfortable, regardless of color. The only negative I can think of is that the laces supplied with the shoes are – as is usual nowadays – far too long, and I've had to buy another, shorter, pair of laces to avoid having a loop dragging on the ground.I hope they're still available 10 years from now, and wish Columbia would make a genuine hiking boot with the same kind of heel.

Any time a shoe says both "Breathable" & "Water Resistant" I am skeptical.This shoe delivers big time! I live in the Pacific Northwest and hike often in wet, muddy conditions and this shoe GRIPS.I rarely ever have wet socks when I wear this shoe and here is the "kicker".I have ONE FOOT. Balance, grip, performance is key for me and I recommend this shoe highly even for people with two feet.

The shoe was slightly small for my husband but he decided to keep it and use it for hiking. He wore the shoes in a light rain for the second time. Next day, the front part of the left shoe started to peel off. I have attached the pictures.

Knew I was going to the Florida Caverns State Park for part of my vacation. It was a cool, dark, 65 degrees and 100% humidity; everything was wet. My fat self never slipped once, others... Not so much. These things kept traction where others did not. The Thing about them being water proof? 100% legit! Took a tunnel that had us go through about 4 inches of cold cave water...twice! Feet stayed dried the whole time while others complained about wet toes or something. Only hiccup I had did not even deal with the shoes but some kid stomped through a puddle and water ran down my leg to my socks where water was able to invade to my ankle, because my socks were not up to the task. When these bad boys start slipping, I will buy another pair.Ps: if you go on a flashlight cave tour, use a red light. Do not give your kid a 1500 lumens flash light with a strobe function.

Bought a pair of this hiking shoes several months ago for a hiking trip to some national parks in Utah and they worked fine. I liked them because they fit me pretty well. But that did not last long. I took them out hiking in my neighborhood several days ago and was caught in the rain. I thought I'd be fine, since these were claimed to be "waterproof" shoes, but they turned out out to be not waterproof at all -- my socks were all soaked. And that was not even the worst. I left my wet shoes on the balcony to left them dry. One day later, the glue failed and the front ends of both shoes cracked open. Amazon does not allow me to return them because 30 days have passed. And I can't find Columbia's customer service information here. I would NEVER recommend anybody to buy these.

(husband's review) These are, without a doubt, the most comfortable and well-constructed walking/hiking shoes I've ever had, bar none. They exceeded my expectations. I'm normally a 10.5 shoe size, but I've been buying a half size up (11) since I'm now using my own orthotic inserts in my shoes and need the extra half-size due to the thickness of the inserts. But when i received these and tried them on, the insoles are so good (best I've ever seen in other than custom shoes) there was no need to switch them out. But, my toe reaches just short of the end of the shoe (which means they fit perfect), so my sense is you need to order 1/2 size larger. They are extremely well made, and look fantastic. The workmanship and materials are excellent. And they are so very comfortable when walking or hiking. I walk my dog 4-5 times per day, and these just seem to allow your feet to naturally walk without any discomfort, probably due to the support. The sole is great is well, and the waterproof feature is an added plus. They should have cost twice the price, given their quality. I'm kind of a shoe junkie, and these are now officially my #1 shoe.

Despues,de unos meses de uso, aunque no intensivo, puedo decir que se trata,de unas botas de buena calidad, tipico en la marca y visible a simple vista. Son muy comodas y ligeras. Ventilan a la perfeccion por lo que el sudor no se scumula en el pie. No he podido probar el grado de impermeabilizacion. Los cordones,se ven de buena calidad. El unico pero que les pongo por ahora es,el sonido a esponjilla que hace el relleno que traen. Por ahora y a diferencia de lo que indican otros compradores ezte relleno no se ha roto.

El zapato es muy cómodo, amplio, buena calidad, de echo luce mucho mejor en persona que en la foto. Pero si eres una persona que busca una talla justa, pide medio punto menos, en lo personal me gusta usar doble calcetón con zapato de senderismo y que los dedos del pie no me topen con la punta, así que para mi es ideal!!!! Lo recomiendo ampliamente!!!!!

Der Schuh gefällt, hat die angegebene Größe und hat sich bei mir als wasserdicht erwiesen. Quietschen tut er glücklicherweise auch nicht.Update: Nach einem Jahr hat er nun weitgehend den Geist aufgegeben. Die Gummierung von hat sich stark gelöst und der Stoff darunter beginnt, das gleiche zu tun. Dadurch ist er alles andere als wasserdicht. Der Schuh wurde aber nicht für das Wandern genommen, sondern als wasserdichter Freizeitschuh. Insgesamt ganz in Ordnung.

Ottima scarpa. Dal primo momento non ho avuto problemi anche se le ho usate insieme a calze specifiche per il trekking. Tuttavia camminandoci le ho trovate un po' strette in punta, nonostante le abbia prese di un numero e mezzo piú grandi. Esteticamente sono molto belle e soddisfano le mie necessitá. Devo tuttavia testarle su una lunga percorrenza. Ottime anche con la pioggia. Sono traspiranti ma resistenti all'acqua. Ottimo il rapporto qualitá prezzo. Inoltre sono arrivate in 5 o 6 giorni.

Estoy muy contento con la compra uso 27 CM en tenis y estaba indeciso sobre que talla en US debería de usar así que pedí un 10.5 US que son 28.5 CM y me quedaron bien no muy flojos ni muy apretados tomando en consideración que al caminar y estar de pie , el pie se inflama espero sirva mi opinión sobre este producto a las personas muy satisfecho gracias son un excelente producto, al mojarlos en charcos o en agua no entra el líquido al pie son algo resvaladisos en el interior de mi casa pero en el exterior se comportan excelente
