Definite Positive Resource for knitting sweaters
Excellent resource for knitting sweaters in different styles and sizes. Easy to follow and comprehend for beginners also. Margaret Hubert is an excellent author and teacher.

Basic — In a Great Way
This is a book of basic sweater styles. The book has charts for men, women, and children. Also, there are charts for different yarn weights. This is helpful if you need to find a pattern for yarn that you own already! There are patterns showing slight customizations made to the basic styles, too.

Still working on it!
I was looking for a top-down sweater pattern for a pretty novice knitter. I have begun the sweater, which would be very nice if I didn’t make so many mistakes! The next one will be better! Great instructions, wonderful sizing charts, and colorful photos.

Excellent basic knitting book
If I was stranded on a desert island and only had one knitting book and a bunch of yarn. I would take this book. With you can make just about any style sweater you want. The first thing that made me fall in love with this book was pages of standard sizing for every sweater. For example, I have a wonderful Knit-O-Graph sweater my mom made for me in the 40's when I was a toddler. It has a lamb on the front and I loved it. Holding up the original sweater, I can tell that this is not a size 2, or rather a size 2 for today's child, but what size does a 2 year old need? Using standard sizing from this book I need to use the pattern directions for size 4 for In the width and almost a size 6 for the length.Ask for the rest of the book, This is just a great selection of basic sweaters to make, and some good ideas for adding cables, lace or other embellishments. There are also instructions to help you fit the neck, underarms and across the bus.

I love this book
I love the books by Margaret Hubert! Either knit or crochet! I had to gave up crochet because of arthritis in my shoulders, I have other books on seamless knitting, but this is the best! Her instructions and sizing charts are easy to follow. I have made her sideways vest pattern and in the process of knitting a second one! I read the kindle version and had to order the physical book!Thank you Margaret!

Nice basic patterns in easily accessible format
As an experienced knitter and knitting teacher, I am always interested in books that I can recommend to relatively less-experienced knitters. This has some nice basic patterns for a large range of sizes and yarn weights, as well as some less common silhouettes. The yarns used for the samples are well-chosen for showing the stitches. However, there are some improvements that could be made: 1) While there are schematics for the basic patterns, there are none for the design variations. I feel this is a particular problem for the "one-size fits all" (uh, no, it won't) Front-Drape Shrug. 2) Texture stitch patterns and lace stitch patterns are written out, but charts of the stitch patterns should also be included for the visual knitter. 3) Knitting separate button and buttonhole bands, then sewing them onto a cardigan is a problematic technique because if it isn't done absolutely perfectly, it can stick out like a sore thumb, as sadly it does on the Women's Patterned Cap-Sleeve Vest. And wasn't this supposed to be a no-sewing seams book? Those bands would have turned out better if they'd been picked up and knit along the edges of the fronts, or even knit as part of the fronts.

Lacking in schematics
I was looking forward to receiving this book. The side to side construction was of particular interest.Sadly the lack of detail and sizes lets this book down. There are no schematics in the book showing the garments' finished measurements, e.g. bust, sleeve and armhole depth.Sizes are only given in two inch increments and the author has already added 'ease' to the sizes of the garments; which is very unusual in this type of book. This means that if I want a sweater that, when finished, has a 36 inch bust, I need to get my calculator out to see which size I need to knit - it is actually most probably the 34 inch. Some of the designs are sadly lacking in any stitch counts for the sleeves. All that said, if you want a book where you just knit the garment and don't mind what exact size it is, then this does have some interesting constructions and covers from child to adult sizes.
