Excellent weather radio
After the hurricanes last fall, we've been stocking our living spaces with battery-operated and hand-crank radios for weather and emergency purposes. This is one of the better ones we've tried--reminds me very strongly of my dad's shop radio from the 1970s. Controls are few and simple. Sound is clear and, for music, pleasant (I wouldn't call it a high-fidelity listening experience). Best of all, it pulls in a lot of stations on both AM and FM, even though we're in the mountains.

great probtable radio
I recently purchased the ONGTEED AM/FM Radio Portable with Loud Speaker, and I’m thoroughly impressed! This radio truly delivers that nostalgic, old-school charm with the reliability and simplicity of a classic transistor radio. Here’s what I love about it:- Lightweight Design: It’s so lightweight that I can easily carry it around wherever I go. Whether I’m moving between rooms or bringing it to work, it’s incredibly portable.- Great Reception: The antenna is excellent and picks up AM/FM stations really well. I’ve had no trouble finding clear signals, even in areas where reception is usually tricky.- Adjustable Volume: The adjustable volume control works perfectly. I can easily set it to just the right level, whether I need soft background music or something louder to cut through worksite noise.- Versatile Power Options: Having the option to power it with batteries or plug it into an AC outlet is super convenient. It’s great for both on-the-go use and stationary listening at home or work.- Loud and Clear Speaker: The built-in speaker delivers crisp and clear sound. It’s impressive for such a compact device, making it ideal for work or leisure.Overall, the radio was a great buy especially for someone like me who was looking for a dependable, straightforward radio. It combines the best of old-school functionality with modern practicality. Highly recommended!

On/off AM/FM switch is tiny and hard to manipulate.
Radio itself seems sturdy enough and volume and station tuner knobs are a nice size, conveniently placed on the side and clearly visible. However, you must zero in on a very tiny, very plastic switch to actually turn the set on or off. That is the first control that should have a knob dialer. This model’s switch is a very small, hard to grasp, hard to slide thingy. Super annoying!!

Good AM/FM reception, portable, good value
I put (2 D-size) batteries in, turned it on and got signals without even raising the antenna. It works just the same when plugged in with the included power cord.FM: Seems to have better reception than a couple of other radios I have around hereAM: I had to raise the antenna for this, but reception is coming through just as well.SW: I don't have anything to compare it to, but i couldn't get anything but static at first. Then I moved it to a different location inside and got a few stations well enough to hear them. If you're looking for a SW radio, this might not be the one you want; I can't really say.And the AM gets both liberal and conservative talk shows! (Mostly conservative though. That's not a political statement, just an observation. Your location may vary.)Most of the AM was a little staticky, but that apparently is the fault of the broadcast towers, most of which are over 50 miles away. I did find one that isn't staticky, so it's not so much this radio - it's their signal strength. Most of the AM was talk too and the audio was good enough for talk. This AM station I'm listening to now is good enough to listen to music over. (not sure I like the music, but the audio quality is good enough). The 2nd photo included has an old AM radio for comparison. The newer one is bigger, but it it better too.

Great Small, Portable Radio
I got his to replace my old portable radio/CD player and it has been working great. This radio is simple and light weight. It has good sound quality -- even with the volume cranked all the way up, loud volume output capability, and excellent reception. I am able to pickup radio stations with the antenna closed and rested. I can even pickup a specific radio station that has bad reception in my area, where as my old radio had problems picking it up.The headphone jack offers good sound and volume quality too. Some quirks:* The battery compartment cover is a tiny bit too big, so it sticks out about 1/2 mm from the bottom.* When closed and rested, the antenna can be a bit tough to pull out. You can use a small finger to pull it out; or you can raise the radio handle, then pull the antenna out regularly, leaving the handle raised; or you can raise the radio handle, pull the antenna out a bit regularly, lower the handle, then straighten out the antenna to your desired length.
