DeVilbiss130524 Replacement Desiccant Cartridge for QC3 Filter

Good instructions and it was easy to replace in the QC3 housing. I did not use the new plastic window for the indicator, but it is working just fine.

The part was exactly as described and so far works well.

There is a small metal washer on the top of the cartridge that can be easily popped off with a pick. Then the lid will pop off giving you access to the silica beads. You can get 2lb bag of them here for under $20. Replace the beads, put the lid back on. Use a 13mm socket to press the washer back down. Done.

Fits

As others have stated, these cartridges are spendy - a nice "consumable" for the supplier to improve their revenue stream. ;) The metal "cap" that holds the lid on is easily removed, giving full access to the dessicant which are clear round spheres about the size of a BB. I have ordered some food grade dessicant beads (orange fresh, green spent) that can safely be regenerated by low temperature oven baking for big cost reduction purposes. My only critical needs are when I need to paint, and while its inconvenient to have to disassemble to check dessicant status, the cost savings make it worth it.

I remove the metal ring on top so I can dump the desiccant out and bake when needed. No need for a new canister when saturated. Just bake it for a few hrs and put it back in.

Effectively removed the moisture from my compressed air system. The indicator built into the cartridge housing is an excellent feature for knowing when to replace the filter.

Bought as a spare. Not sure if/when I will need it as the original is just placed now.
