Q: Is there a way to hide the wires inside of the boom arm?

No there is no product designed ways of hiding wires inside.

Q: Is it able to hold 20 pounds?

Yes, but repeated use of the screw clamp will most-likely strip the cheap hardware it comes with.

Q: What is the load limit for this (180cm mount)? I want to use it as a mic boom and have an isolation shield. 7 pounds and change with everything? Safe?

The structure itself would take 7 pounds, however, the hardware on it is cheap and I’ve had to replace it with nicer hardware from the store. You’d have to wrench the thing down pretty tightly to get it to stay. If you could add some sort of hydraulic support by replacing the lower arm, that would greatly help. All in all, yes, I think it would support the weight but the torque you’d need for the clamp to hold the main bar in place would possibly be beyond the means of the stock hardware.

The hardware in this item is absolute garbage and I’ve had to replace stripped bolts on all three of my Arms. Many of these replacement parts I’ve been able to find at Ace Hardware. As far as the plastic piece you’re mentioning, I’m not too sure. The only plastic on my Arm are the T-shaped plastic knobs, the clamp handle, and a few washers
