Stylishly informative book for adventurous beginner to intermediate plant parent
Reading the sample pages and looking at the product photos, I thought this book would just be a beautiful way to keep me from having to sort through my webpage bookmarks on basic propagation. It does fulfill that need, but its honestly more detailed and nuanced than I expected! I knew this had ~200 pages, but I expected a lot of them to be filled with trendy Planthaus photos. I loved being mistaken, and now the authors' blog is added to my bookmarks (oh the irony).-- It has thorough step-by-step photographs for a variety of plant types, rather than species, so you can learn to identify which way your plant grows and how to best make more (i.e., by suckers/runners, rootball division, leaf/stem cuttings, etc.). There is a handy houseplant table to refer back to if you forget which species is most easily propagated by each method.-- Each tutorial is kept to about 1-2 pages, so if you just need a refresher you can get it quickly by photos or captions. For each project, it lists the tools and items you'll need at the beginning of the page, like a little plantlet recipe with ingredients, so you can set up your area before you get started.-- Quick, yet excellent, information at the beginning for items you can make or that you might have at your house and can repurpose or upcycle to make "root boosters", compost, and mini propagation chambers.-- Techniques like air vs ground layering, grafting, root pruning. The tutorial on leaf vein cuttings was explained differently than I had previously learned (somehow neater and possibly more area to root?) so I'm excited to try that next.-- A small section on tropical fruiting-type seedlings (mangos + date palm) was a fun touch, as well as a little bit about pruning and the most common plant problems and their basic solutions. A few cute DIY gift-type tutorials are also nicely included. The only real criticism I can give is that the font is small-ish, but I suppose that was the sacrifice for the handy size of the book. I can read it fine, but I could see some doing a little squint when they thumb through.

Great instruction!
Easy and enjoyable read. Good mix of technique, instruction, and DIY. Lovely pictures. Techniques for propagation are clearly and logically layer out step by step. Please keep in mind that some of the materials featured are available in the UK but not so easily found in the States. However, it is easy to find equivalents.

Such a great plant book!
This book is hands down the most informative and most aesthetically pleasing book I have ever read on plant propagation! I learned so much from reading it and have a ton of pages book marked for future reference. These ladies know what they’re talking about. I’m a plant instagrammer and will definitely use this book to make more plant babies to write about in my posts .
