Excellent product
I am an engineering "prosumer" in the sense that as a teleworker, my day to day usage of bandwidth is pretty sizable (multiple machines on multiple VPNs, many connected devices). Having bought and configured the routerboard a few months ago now, I'm kicking myself for not doing so earlier. Not only does it do exactly what I need, but I found the RouterOS command line interface quite intuitive to learn and use. The metrics are also fantastic for debugging what went wrong and for analyzing usage. I actually discovered through inspection of server logs that an IP address in China was attempting to brute force login to an SSH gateway I had set up. Moments later, I had a firewall rule that blackholed all traffic from that IP and I could visualize how many packets from that source was being dropped. Needless to say, I have been impressed by the router's versatility and configurability. For interested buyers, I would recommend anticipating banking at least a few hours to learn the system and get the hang of things. One thing that could be improved somewhat is the documentation, but so long as you take your time and reason about what is happening, things generally work as intended. That said, for many users, I suspect the default configuration will be enough to get you going.

If you are looking for a device that is easy to configure & setup
If you are looking for a device that is easy to configure & setup, turn back now and look at Ubuquiti.I'm extremely satisfied with this router. It has every feature one could possibly ask for in a router, it's able to switch at least 4gb/s across multiple ports, and it's low power. It has all the makings of an enterprise grade device without that enterprise price. The one major downside is that many of the configuration options are not intuitive, burred, or not exposed in the GUI. There also tasks that are not intuitive at all. VPN setup comes to mind. I can not get any VPN service successfully configured through the GUI. The CLI is excellent, and hasn't changed much so guides 6 years old still work. There is a learning curve, but for anyone who wants to get their hands a bit dirty with networking this is the router for you. You can do almost anything with it, and for the price it's a steal.

Can you say bargain? Knew you could
Purchased their wireless version think a model 2011 wireless a few years ago. Was flawless. This has all the improvements was looking for and once you get a handle on the firewall. There is no turning back. Have programmed Cisco, Sophos, Watchguard, Checkpoint, D-link, Netgear, Juniper, Zyxel, Umbiquiti, ITT and some sure have forgotten.... But this has the overall best balance of endless capabilities and growth for my needs. RouterOS is pretty exciting as it grows over 20 years or so now. One main important area to me is low power consumption and security. Only 10 watts makes that leap for me. *********7/25/17********** Still using and have 5 firewall rules that come up depending on the violation. This thing is a wall once you get the rules in place.************10/3017********** Can really make a strong firewall with this. Run's cool and just a powerhouse router.***********6/18*********** Still use and no one has gotten inside it. 2/19 Still use and secure.***********6/21*********** Still going strong and in use.

Fast and Stable
It's been installed in my home for about 2 weeks now and so far has been rock solid and lightning fast. Everything works as advertised except the touchscreen dispay. There's no nice way to say it, so I'll just say it sucks. It looks okay, but it is a pain to use. Try to click on the right side of the screen and it will register something on the left side. Try scrolling down and you will click on every option a few times before you get to where you want to go. I only used it a little bit during setup, so it's no big deal. The web interface is pretty straightforward and not complicated if you have a little experience with network equipment. Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and highly recommend it.
