Punk Style (Subcultural Style)

Obviously written by an extremely smart, well read professor of Fashion as well as someone knowledgeable about these different sub cultures and extremely well researched; but this book was disappointing. I was an English major and a teacher myself but even I found the writing hard to parse and somewhat circuitous--the whole first chapter was about how to identify what punk style was without really identifying it. The pictures are few and far between and all in black and white and the body of the main chapters relies on testimonials as to what is a personal punk style to specific people. In hearing the author speak on a podcast recently she was well organized with historical examples and bands and influences, and I'd have like to have seen really exponentially more photographic examples of every thing she mentioned, like tartans for example, in the way she spoke about it rather than how she wrote about it here.
