Great tester
I just used this voltage tester a couple of days ago for the first time since receiving it. It displays the voltage on our hot wire fences easily, safely and it's really easy to read. Great Tester!

This is the one you want
I have three other 'simple' electric fence testers. Two of them will click to indicate a charge - if you listen very carefully. The other has tiny lights to indicate the level of the charge. The one that clicks lets you know it is working but not how powerfully. The one with the lights is very hard to read - even when you know the fence is charged you can't really tell that because the lights are so faint - and typically you will be trying to read this in daylight. But this one is a no-brainer. You know for sure the fence is working, and you know precisely how much the charge is by the easy-to-read digital screen. I bought a second one - one for the tractor and one for the pickup. Very glad that I found this after being frustrated with the others.

Electric fence tester
Works good, but the battery doesn't last very long.

No Battery!
Shipped without a battery. This takes a 9 volt battery, fortunately I had one. As for performance, it works very good....easy to read display...instant on and shut off when not use. With battery, I would rate it five stars.

Works as advertised
Had one that just had lights that were hard to detect in daylight. This one is very readable.

Works fine
Works as it should. Shows different readings depending on how much vegetation gets on the wires. Weed eat to clear the fence and the voltage goes back up. So it’s not locked on the same reading as mentioned in other reviews. Shuts off automatically. I see no problems.

It works like it should
I have a few fence chargers I brought with me when we moved to Texas. Ended up with yahoo's poisoning my animals and animals from town attacking them. Well my old fencers weren't working anymore after 18+ years. So I opened them up and repaired them since I have a background in electronics. Well, needed to find out if they worked. After throwing a rather large grasshopper in the coop, the chickens were confused as to its location. So I kept pointing through the chicken wire where said grasshopper was. The chicken kept pecking my finger! So I leaned in (you know where this is going don't you?) And by golly if I didn't hit that dang wire! The coop is 7' x 23' so I had run 4 wires around it. The solar charger I fixed does up to 25 miles! Yes I felt it! Clear to my knees! Well, I located my tester and tested it, it's 6,700 volts! Ouch! Now I fixed my AC fence charger and it does up to 30 miles. No I didn't, but had it plugged in laying on the grass, my son asked "want me to test it?" Well I couldn't refuse a little son and dad time could I? So no grounding rod, but when he touched it......indeed it was working now. We just went out with this tester and it tested at 9,700 volts! I do have a 60 mile fence charger, no were not going to test it with our fingers, Lol

Does not work accuratly.
Purchased item to test an electric fence with 1.6 joule 9000volt load. I kept getting 3.6-3.9 and even going straight from positive to negative terminal I got 4.8. The reading is in K-volts so 3600-3900 and 4800 when the fence should be 7000-9000. After checking everything several times and asking others if I did something wrong, I called the company that sells the charger. I was told that the Allosun tester only registers 50% on the pulse charge in an electric fence and they were quite familiar with the issue. My setup was apparently correct and retesting with a different tester gave the correct charge. Several others have written similar reviews and I think the tester needs to either be removed or fixed. Would not recommend.

Great solution for testing
This item is great because it is easy to read, use and comes in a nice storage case. Our old fence tester just had a series of lights that blinked when the fence clicked. It was hard to read especially in sunlight. This model reads the zap strength as a number and holds the number on the screen making it much easier to read.

Efficacité
Testeur très pratique mais malheureusement il n'est pas étalonné, donc pas fiable.

.
L’affichage digital est un avantage majeur par rapport une diodes classiques qu’on ne voit pas bien en plein jour .
