Our squirrels give these 2 tiny paws up! Us humans like them too!
After trying two other brands, one other brand here from Amazon and another in store, I decided that these were the ultimate winner. I love that they are much easier to crack than other brands and most of the time I can get the two halves apart without breaking them into a million pieces (This was not the case for the other two brands I tried that were both too hard, broke apart into useless tiny pieces and had more rotten ones than good ones. ). I like to go through several bags before leaving a review so that I can also talk about the consistency of the brand. NUTS U.S. has been a very consistent brand as far as quality, freshness, price and availability. Since I live in Oregon they don't have to travel too far either coming from California. A few times a week I give these to our growing family of yard squirrels to help them with "teething" during the summer and spring months till our Oaks start dropping acorns. This is a necessity for squirrels as their teeth can grow up to 2" every year. Giving them a good hard nut in the shell is good for them and keeps them from finding other hard things to chew on for relief from the constant growing pains - Like your decks, rails, pillars, planter boxes, etc. They cannot help the "Chewing" part or they would always be in pain so a good hard nut helps "File" down their teeth and keeps them away a little longer as it takes them more time to get through harder nuts (NEVER give a squirrel Brazil Nuts due to the high selenium content!! And peanuts, unless Raw are really bad for them too. Never give a squirrel anything artificial, processed, roasted or salted! Only give them what they would find in nature.) or, when they are done eating, it takes them longer to find a place to bury them since the bigger the nut, the more concealed a place they want to hide it. I have seen them wander around aimlessly for 10-15 minutes trying to find a place to hide the bigger bounties. FYI...it's a "Myth" that squirrels "Lose" their nuts, they don't. Many studies have proven that myth to be false and, the fact that I don't have a million walnut, hazelnut, pecan and oak trees growing in my large backyard where they bury 90% of the nuts I give them that they don't eat was all the proof I need of that. Are these good for human consumption too? Absolutely, our little furballs only get about half our bag of nuts, the rest, go to us...dipped in melted chocolate! YUM!

Good Walnuts
98% of walnuts were perfect and delicious. One or two broken shells and a few with black nut meat. Overall a really tasty product.

Nuts for these Nuts!
Alright, gather 'round, folks, 'cause I've got a tale to tell about some walnuts and some critters. So, picture this: a suburban backyard, complete with a couple of dogs who think they own the place and a gang of squirrels who are just itching for a fight. Yep, that's my reality. Now, I'm no Dr. Dolittle, but I've come to realize that keeping the peace in my little corner of the world involves a delicate balance of treats and diplomacy. Enter these jumbo-sized walnuts from NUTS U.S. When I say jumbo, I mean these bad boys are bigger than some of the squirrels themselves! I swear, I saw one struggling to carry one of these nuts, and let me tell you, it was a sight to behold. But here's the thing: these walnuts aren't just a snack; they're a peacekeeping tool. You see, ever since I started tossing these nuts around, the squirrels have been downright giddy. They're too busy munching on these jumbo nuts to even think about causing trouble for my dogs. It's like they're living in their own little walnut paradise. And as for the dogs? Well, let's just say they're pretty pleased with the situation too. No more surprise squirrel attacks, no more barking fits in the middle of the night. Just a backyard filled with happy, well-fed critters. So, if you're looking to maintain some semblance of order in your animal kingdom, do yourself a favor and grab a bag of these walnuts. Trust me, your dogs will thank you, your squirrels will thank you, and who knows, maybe even your neighbors will thank you (though, let's be real, they'll probably just think you're nuts). In conclusion: NUTS U.S. walnuts - keeping the peace, one jumbo nut at a time.

HIGH QUALITY
The nuts are day and night different from the Diamond walnut halves that I purchased for years. Recently, the Diamond walnut package has a strange and rather strong (formaldehyde?) odor, so I was desperate to try something else. I thought about how amazon sells so many products, and thus the rest is in the past. I will NEVER purchase Diamond walnuts again! These are so easy to crack, the taste is how I perceive a walnut should taste, and the best part is that there is no odor from the package. Please keep the nuts the same. I will be purchasing for as long as they are as tasty and non-odoriferous as they are now.
